CURRENT MISSION

I just love the couchsurfing idea , as an airline employee for last 40 years I travel a lot with my current female partner ( 4 years ). My mission is to stay healthy , get a lot of world knowledge , outdoor activities and meet people with open minds ..

ABOUT ME please note , after 9 years .. , for now ....im alone snifff snifff...sept 2019...

I love to travel , golf and fishing are my top sports and i shoot some mean pool , average tennis , ping pong , my hobby is antiques mostly glass collecting from the early 1900s US made , perfectly bilingual for us both , both with adult chidren , both non smokers who love good food and i like wine with my food and im picky about my wines . religion not at all . I make great preserves , have a green thumb , love reading in down times , have 2 Somali cats and Louise has a husky mix dog....we like to climb volcanos , Vegas for its grand canyon , Slovenia and Vietnam for the caves , Guadeloupe is our regular sun spot as well as great trail walking and wild and free waterfalls , Florida every now and then .Louise loves shopping for summer dresses and most of my likes minus the ping pong.Camping is on our list of activities , the rustic kind only and we both adore fireworks...

PHILOSOPHY

You only live once im pretty sure so get out there and get the most out of life without knowingly hurting anyone. I am anti-gun and anti hunting except for survival. Be especially nice to children.When it comes to fishing , I only try to catch something I will eat and even then I feel bad everytime I catch one..If im not going to eat it , it starts getting treated as gently as possible before it even gets near the boat or shore and then gets released as gently as possible.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I tend to lead in a group , I love many sports except the violent ones , am very social and can adapt to just about anything. I am a bit of a daredevil , such as off piste skiiing with 24inch skis . I fish using my hydrobikes ( google them )

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed in florida , northern ontario , the rideau canal area and niagara area in ontario , newfoundland . Chile to see the stars .

as of march 2015 we have been hosted in 5 different occasions , once a repeat and every one was super , but even more super than expected. We now have new friends and will surely have more as time goes on. CS has proven to be a friend making affair . So far we have not hosted anyone but are definitly open to doing it . If you travel or not , CS is a life changing experience.

Interests

Fishing , golf , antiques , cooking (me), walking trails , travelling , eating , see above ... Plus, since 2014 = hydrobikes....google it ...a host in Ontario let me try his and , im hooked...bought 2 of my own and have become the distributor for the province of Quebec... these bikes are akin to walking on water...they beat the heck out of canoes , kayaks and pedal boats of all kinds . almost silent , very fast even faster than canoes and kayaks , total eco friendly , stay dry to the tip of your toes , untippable , great for fishing or camping as you go...no docking fees , no lock fees , a great high up vantage point , loons let you come close , not prone to being blown around by wind and on and on.... salt or fresh water ... can be assembled without tools in 15 mins etc etc etc

Music, Movies, and Books

all kinds of music except the modern stuff and that includes some classical , the 50 and sixties , bluegrass , country and western .., love reading about astronomy , Nageo , loved Ludlum , Herman Wouk , all the lost at sea books like adventure of the Ra , my favorite alltime book is Edward Abbey`s Monkey Wrench Gang...probably read it 6 times or more. Movies : mrs doubtfire , the Sting , Beyond Horizon , Avatar saw it 4 times , Roy Orbison ., Joss Stone ( met her )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

visited the worlds biggest cave in Vietnam, held a 35000$ Usd carnival glass plate in my hands . Started the only french speaking carnival glass club in North America in 1986 which is easily the most active group in Canada and most of the USA. Bought and owned a monster snowmobile in 1971 that was faster than my car and had many chases with the cops and they never caught me ...that was in my crazy days ...i could go on but it has not been boring with me ..

I can show you all about everything I wrote about above as i usually get pretty knowledgeable about things that I like. Im a pretty passionatge kind of guy, for example I am the authority on carnival glass in eastern Canada.
I am a big fan of , and constatly tell people about the wonder of ....COUCHSURFING>>>so much more than a place to stay...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Montreal bagels , my own homemade smoked coho salmon ( cold smoked of course ) , my love of life , my green thumb , my strong arms , some expertise in many sports ( not the violent ones) my discovery of the worlds greatest invention...the hydrobike , why I love cats and why I hate them , sometimes ...how to ski on 15 inch skis in deep powder snow , my imagination...im not a bad cook , my humour , carnival glass , more montreal bagels , german white wine , lots of things really. I am probably the most knowledgeable Quebecer about la Guadeloupe , been there 30 times , best place in the Caribbean , next trip southern france I hope summer 2020
As of december 2020 I am now single...sniff sniff ....such is life , moving on....and that might change ...who knows...
