ABOUT ME

My name is Konstantinos, I am a medical student in Thessaloniki and I am an active couchsurfer. My dream is to travel around the globe and gather as many experiences as possible. I was born and raised in Athens, but my father is from Chalki, one of the Prince islands in Turkey and my mother is from Cairo, Egypt. At 19 years of age I moved to the beautiful Thessaloniki and started my studies at the medical school of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I am currently at my 3rd year of my studies. As a student, I try to improve myself in any way possible and also be an asset to my community. Therefore, I am politically active and also an activist on issues concerning edication, human rights and public health. I am a big theater fan and participate in various performances.

PHILOSOPHY

I fear lost time. I hate sleep and avoid routine. Every day has to have a new thrill, something to be excited about, otherwise I fall into a deep blunder of depression. I hate boundaries. I dream big and far, even though I know very well what may or may not happen. I am scared of people who settle with a state of sadness, and I cannot understand them. I hate people who are afraid to dream, or who follow rules that others have put on them. I hate money and everything that it has brought to the world. I hate labels on ethnicity, social status, political ideas, physical characteristics, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, health status or any other human invention that may cause discrimination. My goal is to be happy, no matter what that means, no matter if laws, friends, lovers or family agree. I have lost people I loved because I could not stand them being unhappy and not doing anything about it. I fear living without living.

Interests

I am interested in many things. I am very happy to study a subject that I really enjoy spending time to. Medicine is an amazing science and a unique profession, and I could never imagine myself studying something else. Travelling is my sin, and my dream is to visit every remote edge of the world. Getting to understand the locals is the most important part of getting touch wιth a culture, therefore language learning is and always will be one of my priorities. I love listening to any kind of music, but jazz is a guilty pleasure, and most friends will try to warn you when I get into a "Fly me to the moon" mood. I love theater, studying the theory of it, watching it and performing. I am very interested in politics and sometimes I get very passionate about it. I am also a very active supporter of human rights, I try to raise awareness about public health politics and am spending time in thinking how educational systems should be.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I am not really fond of movies. Usually, because I am always sleep deprived and I fall asleep. I don' t have any particular favourites, except the classic ones that everyone loves.

Music: Jazz, Rock, Oldies, Greek music and pretty much everything that can travel me. Favourite artists are Frank Sinatra, Pavlos Sidiropoulos, Nikolas Asimos, The Beatles, John Lennon and many many many many others.

Books: I read everything. Big fantasy adventures like Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire, mystery books like Agatha Christie, romance books, literature, theater plays, social books, philosophical books. Trying to read classic literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The smallest things, are usually also the most amazing ones. My biggest achievement, is the fact that I feel sad to go to bed because I miss life and wake up excited about the adventures to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Greek or English. I can teach you basic medicine, talk to you about the function of the human body, about politics, history, theater, health, ideas. Anything to be learnt is always welcome.
