ABOUT ME

My name is Raffael Casagrande but most people just call me Raffi or Raffa. I'm 24 years old and I'm currently on an exchange semester at UC Berkeley where I live in the International House.
In July I will return to Zürich, Switzerland where I'm sharing an apartment with 3 other students until I finish my studies.
I'm a really open person and if I have time I'm up for almost anything. In particular I love all kinds of sports, at the moment my favourite is Volleyball and Beach Volleyball but I've been playing table tennis, Badminton, tennis, squash, track and field...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment only by surfing but once I'm back in Switzerland I'd love to host other surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not been couch surfing myself yet but some of my friends are really enthusiastic about it. I'm planing to go on a roadtrip along the west coast this summer and I'd love to "try" couch surfing:-)

Interests

At the moment I'm almost a full time tourist (besides studying) because San Francisco is just a hop away from my door steps. I enjoy playing sports (volleyball, running, badminton) a lot and I love going out in foreign cities. I'm also a former "boy scout" and a member of a musical group in Lucerne, Switzerland where I still help out from time to time.
In the winter I love skiing and snowboarding a lot, I usually spend an entire week in the mountains on holidays for that.

Music, Movies, and Books

I definitely love watching movies, some of my favourites are:
- Shutter Island
- Garden state
- Midnight in Paris
- Bienvenu chez les sch’tis
and many others. In general I love intricate and sophisticated dramas but don’t mind an action movie once in a while.

Music wise I listen to almost any kind of music and I will almost never object. The only constant is that I don't listen to the same music all the time. (And I love spotify and Last.fm for this :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During high school I spent one year abroad in Canada which was a truly amazing experience. In a way it was an eye opener about life and I learned a lot in this year, not only in high school. It inspired me a lot and so I decided to go again on exchange five years after I returned and so I am now in Berkeley.
