My name's Craig and I'm a secondary school science teacher from London, UK. I try to spend at least a few weeks every year doing a bit of travelling since I have so much time off throughout the school year. CS has provided some of the best travel experiences that I will remain with me for a life time. Now that I've got my own place, it would be brilliant to give back to the community and host some travellers myself.

Travelling: I love to explore new places and experience new cultures. I love to get as much as I can out of the day when I'm travelling and spend the evenings socialising with the host over a bottle of wine - I'm more than happy to provide the wine :) I've met some amazing people through CS who I have kept in contact with long after my travels are over.

Hosting: I have had some of the best travel experiences through CS and I want to be able to give back to the CS community. Also, I love where I live and want to share all that it has to offer.

Intereses

I love learning foreign languages and putting them to good use. The thing I miss the most about no longer living abroad is that I now don't speak a foreign language every day. If you're interested in staying with me and you happen to be a native French/Italian/German speaker, expect that I'm going to want to speak to you in your language ;)
The theatre is also a passion of mine. I try to see a play/musical about once a month - it's great having the West End on my door step and mid-week is a great time to pick up cheap tickets.

Three favourite movies: The History Boys, La Vie en Rose, Sunset Boulevard.

I've been watching waaaay too much TV over the past few years. My favourite show is The Good Wife / The Good Fight. If you happen to be Americanand you wants to explain to me what on Earth was going on in the last season and if it's at all a reflection on what's really going on the USA, that would be great!
Update: I've watched so much TV over lockdown my eyes are now square-shaped.

I ran the London Marathon in 2017 - it took me a little longer than I intended, but I finished it!
I lived in France for four years working Winter and Summer seasons in the Alps. I became fluent in French and learnt to ski.
I marched in the London Pride parade a few years ago with some friends and the LGBT hockey team they were in - I've also marched the same route several times in the teachers' union strikes! Any reason to wave a flag, right?!

When travelling I'd love to learn at least a few useful phrases of the local language ... Like I said, I love to speak foreign languages.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I'd love to show you round Blackheath and Greenwich - there's a lot to see round here. I like to cook - I've always found cooking together and sharing a meal is a great ice breaker. If I'm hosting, I've most probably recently baked something - love trying new baking recipes, the more technical the better!
