Overview
About Me
I graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in chemical engineering after which I took a job at an ethanol plant in a town an hour and a half away from any notable sized city. I have always loved traveling ever since a trip I took to Australia and New Zealand the summer I turned 15, and living fairly isolated has only increased my desire to travel whenever I have a good opportunity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I may have my big boy job but I see that as no reason to settle down and never do anything, despite the fact I will be paying off student loans for many years to come. When I traveled to Ireland immediately after graduating I decided to stay in hostels primarily to try to spread out the little money I had, but what I found was so much more than a cheap place to stay. I had a blast with people from all over the world and have continued to stay at hostels even when traveling in the United States. Basically hotels have been ruined for me, because they're just not good enough anymore. Traveling is about seeing unique things, but so much more it's about meeting unique people and experiencing different cultures and ideas.
Interests
I have many interests and am always happy to try new activities (or activities I don't get to do very often) some of which I've done include rock climbing, snowboarding, white water rafting, ocean swimming (it's significantly better than simple lake swimming, though hanging out at a lake is still almost always a good time), acroyoga, biking, and one of my favorite traveling pastimes... eating! Love going to chill places and just relax and talk to people, preferably with a beer in hand.
Some of my everyday interests include both watching and playing sports including football, soccer, basketball, tennis, and possibly a few more I can't think of at the moment (though I'm not a die hard know everything about everyone for any sport). Also enjoy hiking when the opportunity arises. When I was growing up and through high school I always enjoyed performing in theater and even though it's been many years since I've been on stage I really enjoy seeing live theater.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy almost all types of music at some points in time though I find myself most often listening to artists like Ingrid Michelson, Regina Spektor, Death Cab for Cutie, Mumford and Sons, and my Pandora is most often on the station for Coeur de Pirate. That being said I grew up listening AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Led Zeplin and went through middle school with Blink182, Sum41, Good Charlotte, and still I uphold the Beatles are timeless.
I have enjoyed countless movies though I suppose a short list of some of my favorites include: Fight Club, Wimbledon, The Pianist, Moulin Rouge, Gladiator, Definitely Maybe, Perks of being a Wallflower, and of course The Lion King.
Again listing just a few favorite books is difficult, though I will give it my best shot: Paris the novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray, 1984, Song of Ice and Fire (series), Wheel of Time (series), The Fountainhead, and I recently finished Les Miserable which I found amazing.
