About Me

Hey! My name is Craig, and I'm a 27 year old medic from Scotland. I'm originally from just outside of Glasgow, in a town called Kilmarnock (Where Johnnie Walker Whisky is from!), although spend most of my time in Glasgow as that is where I live now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has always been recommended to me as a great way to meet and make friends with interesting like-minded people, and to really discover the local culture and not just do the usual touristy things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Like I'm sure many people say, I have quite an eclectic taste in music. In highschool I played quite a few instruments (Piano, guitar, drums, bass, tenor horn, and ukelele), and so I got into playing different styles - I played in the brass band, and the jazz band, and played everything from classical to heavier stuff on my guitar. Since starting university I've somewhat fell away from playing, but I really enjoy attending live music, especially at smaller venues.

I have quite generic taste in movies, so to list my favourites I could probably just link you to the imdb top 250 haha... If someone were to ask my favorites I'd probably say between Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, Anchorman, or Goofy movie.

Like my music, I've fell away from reading since starting University. Recently, I've been trying to read some of the classics as I really have not read as many as I should have. My favourite reading experience was the Da Vinci code when I was younger, as I was about 8 or 9 so little me did not see that coming... one of the first times I remember not being able to put a book down (outwith the Harry Potter books which were also a hit with younger me). Nowadays, I find I read a lot more non-fiction, but I am making a conscious effort to get back into fiction. If I had to pick a favourite book I think I'd say 1984

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whilst traveling in Vietnam, I lost my shoes, so had to motorbike the Hai Van pass in flip flops whilst being violently ill from the night before. just about made it in one piece haha...

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about local culture (especially food...) and history. I love meeting new people and hearing about their view of the world - with something that is so dependant on your environment, I always find it interesting to hear from someone from a completely different place.

I'm not sure what I could teach, as I'm not really an expert in anything haha... If you're interested in Scotland we could talk about that, or if you're a beginner I could teach you some music (although I'm not amazing myself lol). If you're medical and want to know how things are done in the UK we could talk about this also.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I guess this is similar to the box above, but I'd love to share my insights into Scottish culture, and anything I can teach that you would like to learn. More generally speaking I'd like to share experiences and hopefully make some good friends!

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Jersey, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam, Wales
