About Me

Hi, I'm Craig. Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. Couchsurfing is relatively new to me, and I suppose my interest in it was sparked from a recent reevaluation of life when I turned 30, in which I wanted to overcome my social anxiety and meet new people. What better way than to incorporate that with my favourite hobby - travelling!
I'm keen to learn about your culture, as well as share mine with you. I'd love to learn new languages, and in return, I can help with your English.

"Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends" - Maya Angelou

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I guess it is because I'd love to overcome my social anxiety first and foremost.

It would be great to meet new people from all different backgrounds and get a more native, tailored experience to my travels. I believe that it's more than just finding somewhere to sleep for the night, as we can get a local insight into a place and gain a better understanding of different cultures firsthand.

Ultimately, I'd like to make some good friendships along the way where we can share new experiences through travel or shared interests.

Interests

Nothing excites me more than travel, especially to new places and with different people. Getting to do any of my other interests, such as hiking in nature or visiting beaches and the sea, for example, are additional bonuses.

I'm interested in learning new languages. However, I feel that I can only learn a little from reading or using apps. If you have patience or are keen, I'd appreciate your help with learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all genres (maybe not heavy metal, actually) and I listen to different types depending on my mood.
I haven't properly read books for many years. However, I have started reading again recently.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Bad Boys II, White Chicks, Mean Girls, almost all Disney/Pixar movies and Marvel/DC too. Anything with Jim Carey and Julia Roberts is what you'll find me watching.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed some of the highest munros in the UK, including the highest; Ben Nevis!

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach English. I'd love to learn new languages (currently learning português)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am relatively quiet/shy when we first meet. A great listener, happy to listen to and share travel stories and about our life experiences so far.

I'm naturally inclined to clean/wash up a hosts space, as their home is exactly that, not a hotel. I adjust to the rhythm of a household, whether it be quiet/chilled or more upbeat/spontaneously adventurous.

From personal experience, I know well how much personal space is essential for most of us. So I don't take any insult if I'm asked to leave you alone to work or to have time to yourself. I'll find something to do that doesn't require your time and energy.
