I'm a PhD student in the Spanish department at the University of Bern in Switzerland, and I sometimes take weekend trips to places nearby.

I study sociolinguistics, the connection between society and language, because I find it fascinating. My free time is spent on other interests, like reading, having coffee or drinks with friends, movies, meditation, or exploring Switzerland. I'm also interested in talking about politics, society, or buddhism related topics, and learning new things from the people around me.

Learning languages is a major hobby of mine too, and I try to use the languages I learn when I get the chance.

I am vegetarian, meaning I do not eat anything that was once alive, so no chicken or fish :)
Although I'm not vegan, I am interested in reducing my consumption of other animal products.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people when traveling, to learn from their perspectives and experiences, and understand my place in the world better.

Hopefully also to practice my French, Italian, and Portuguese. In my daily life, I don't often use them, so I don't want to forget.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a month volunteering at a buddhist temple in China where I also learned beginner's level kung fu.

Went skydiving in Texas on a whim. It was an amazing experience.
