About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find peace of mind, somewhere out there in the world. I am reaching an age where I'm not as young as I once was, still pretty lost in the world, hoping to find someWHERE, not someONE or someTHING. I like to have overwhelming, breathtaking experiences, which can be few and far between in day to day life, but I find being in new countries brings many of them.

ABOUT ME

I'm 26 years old from Manchester in the UK. I'm pretty laid back and easy going, very sarcastic - so hope your not easily offended! I discovered couch surfing when travelling around Europe, then put my travels on the back agenda, starting up again now (perhaps a mid life crisis!) so going to get back into the CS scene!

PHILOSOPHY
Don't live your life on auto-pilot if you think about doing something - DO IT!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in quite a smallish close-minded town. I have some great friends who are ambitious and forward thinking people however there is a lot of prejudice and ignorance where I live. I find the people I meet when travelling are so much more cultured and open minded, especially a concept like couchsurfing, one must have a very open mind and love of all people.

Interests

I work quite a lot during the week, I enjoy travelling to new places, even if just for the weekend. I like to read and educate myself as much as possible, whether that be about the worlds religions or Greek mythology or psychology! I go to the gym couple of times a week, wouldn't call that an interest but it takes up much time.
Of course my thirst for being stressed out, dissapointed and let down is quenched through my love of Football - ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL!

Music, Movies, and Books

Not much of a movie guy. I really like music, old school rock and roll bands are my favourite, Oasis, The Smith - my all time!

Too many books to mention, Siddhartha, Frame Spotting my two favs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, I'm blessed to have lived such a life with a list of such great amazing things.

I quit my job and left my apartment, flew to Canada without having any place set up, any job and not knowing one person there. A year later I had all of these things, an immense sense of pride to start again in a foreign country from nothing.

I think my biggest achievements are the friendships and connections I've made with people from such different walks of life, as oppose to specific monuments I may have visited. Whilst on a two week journey through Europe (I was 20 at the time so I don't mind saying the majority of this trip was spent boozing!) I was stuck at a train station, waiting on a delayed train and I got hit my a wave of euphoria on the randomness and delights of life, a boozed up 20 year old guy from the North of England sat chatting away with an elderly nun from Belarus who spoke not one word of English. These are the encounters I adore.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - Hmm, maybe I have things to teach but I can't think of anything without sounding too arrogant! I try my best to practice the principles of acceptance, i.e. being denied entry to America after so much planning and travelling, I had to accept that "zen style".

Learn - This is my forte, since I hit about 25 I have had a massive quench to learn as much as I can. I am learning Spanish, I read so much now, I went through a fascination with all different religions at one point, plus Greek Mythology. I love to know how other people live, particularly people who consider themselves more spiritual and live a more basic life.

Share - Stories! Tell me your travel stories! I don't have nearly enough friends who travel but I love to hear stories of where you've been, what you enjoyed, what you didn't enjoy, surprises!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am not a special person but I am kind and positive. I have two ends to my spectrum and can assist in either, if you want to party through the day and night I'm happy to oblige or if you want to explore and take in the culture, that's super fun too! Some of my most tranquil moments where sat in a park in Los Angeles, reading my book, watching people walk their dogs and listening to the homeless people sing.
