About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the world with no final destination in mind

ABOUT ME

I'm a friendly english-lit / languages student originally from (Bonnie) Scotland but living now in the south of Germany. My degree's leading me towards a life of living in a cardboard box in some lawyer's back garden scribbling sonnets onto a cornflakes box but what I really want is to end up being a travel photographer and get to continue doing what I'm already doing!

I enjoy red wine, candle-lit dinners and long walks on the beach, but in the south of Germany in the absence of any coastline I make do with cycling around Heidelberg, drinking in bars with trees in them and playing guitar.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short, art is long, and you definitely can't have fun if you're afraid of things going wrong!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've had a few people come and stay with me in Edinburgh, who're on couchsurfing, but we didn't organise through the website (I've only recently got my act together and made a profile!) and I'm just about to go and stay with a member up in Bodø in the north of Norway!

Interests

I'm a book geek and travel addict, so my degree is basically just me sitting on a plane/train/boat with a book all the time except that my parents are proud of me. I'm massively into photography, and have been so ever since my parents gave me a camera when I was about 6, I love almost every kind of film so long as I haven't seen it before and for me there is no better feeling than riding a motorbike on a hot, summer day!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last summer I rented a motorbike in the beautiful Nepali town of Pokhara and drove with my girlfriend the 240km along the incredible mountain road from Pokhara to Kathmandu, dodging insane Goods Carrier trucks, the Nepali people holding a rope (!) across the road to stop cars to 'collect money for a kidney operation' and the steep cliff edges, attempting to keep the motorbike in one piece (the wing mirror fell off after 10km, the engine casing fell off after 30...) all while trying not to just stare at the amazing scenery flying past. One of the best experiences of my life!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a guitarist, but very much in the sense that every other young, travelling literature student with long hair is a guitarist. If anyone wants to sit out by the river on a warm day and jam with me and make me a little better that'd be more than brilliant!

I will trade this for a deep, intimate knowledge of arabic card games and where the cheapest, best beer in Heidelberg is. Fair trade?

Countries I’ve Visited
