Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've recently begun traveling by myself and then remembered CS. I'm going to be in New York several times in April to take a baking class and thought "what better way to do as the locals do?!" I did some work exchange while traveling in Europe and would like to incorporate staying with locals in some way, shape, or form in many of my future adventures.
I find little interest in the stereotypical new York sights you see in movies. I want to see what the millions of people who live in the city everyday find unique and interesting. Related: also an avid geocacher.

Music, Movies, and Books
Yes please!
I couldn't possibly name even every genre I enjoy but a brief, telling summary:
I like most music. Dancey stuff, poppy crap, really good hip hop (OG), country/folk/bluegrass. I tend to avoid punk and metal but I've been known to enjoy a bit of that too. These days, you're more likely to find my flat footin' to some good ol' Appalachian bluegrass than glittered up at a rave but I've loved it all.
Non-fiction and historical fiction are my favorite book genres
Tarantino is god.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once helped a Greek doctor in Athens clean up an abandoned lot that had been used as a trash heap for 20 years. We got a ladder, climbed the fence and wore double gloves. We cleaned up years and years of needles, trash and peoples' discarded history. Two days into the project the woman who owned the lot and a restaurant around the corner opened the gate for us and brought us lunch. A man who lived near by for decades thanked us for cleaning up his neighborhood. A few days later people had thrown more trash there. So what did we learn? That no matter how much we try to clean up the troubles of our word people will continue to try and destroy it? Or that the act in itself, no matter the outcome, can inspire to others to do good in the world as well and that is the difference to be made? Do we allow the world to be condemned to darkness or spread love with hope? What do you think?

I am striving to be the empty cup.
I am an open book. Please ask me anything I haven't written here. I'm new.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well, once you get to know me I'm kind of hilarious. Laughter never hurts, you know. I'm a very pleasant house guest who keeps after herself. My roommate says I'm quite considerate and she's practically family. I'm good to whip up something from nothing out of the fridge at any and all hours and love to cook for others. I'm great with dogs and will happily walk yours if needed. I'll do your dishes.
