Overview
About Me
I'm essentially a shut-in who needs more horizon-broadening! I like science fiction, health and fitness, and keeping up with news and politics. I've been pre-med since practically in-utero, and keep collections of scientific journal articles on whatever topic is currently captivating my interest (psychopathology and maternal/fetal medicine are favorites, as is trauma medicine).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Save trips for specific purposes to visit specific family members in defined and repetitive locales, I have never traveled in my life. Never been on vacation to just *go*. It's something my family could not afford, and as a result, my knowledge of even my near-surroundings is limited -- I've never been out and explored! Always busy busy busy, trying to make enough money to stay afloat. I don't know the world beyond a few miles around my house.
I would particularly like to connect with people in the healthcare or sciences fields, as I try to find my way into a career path. If you could both host me on your couch and at your job for a day or two, or even just for enlightening discussions about your field in the evening, I would be much appreciative!

Music, Movies, and Books
Bechdel-test passing is mandatory! Sci-fi that's heavy on the plot and world building. Star Trek was my first love.
I read a lot of articles and short stories. I'd like to read more non-fiction, but I prefer primary sources for scientific things, which would be most of my genre of interest.
I am apparently half teenager, half middle-aged man in music taste. Pop-punk and classic rock.
