Overview
About Me
31 year-old activist/journalist/musician from the dirty South living in New England. I like to try new food, drink local beer, ride bikes, play drums, dance, and do my part for the world. I make my living as a journalist, and I use the money I make from my writing to fund my activism and travels. I love sharing and hearing interesting stories.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I spent a year hosting coushsurfers in Jackson, MS, and very rarely said no to anyone who requested to stay on my couch, whether it was for a night or a week. In early 2011, my business partner and I gave away all the possessions that wouldn't fit in the back of a Saturn Ion and hit the road to organize a grassroots movement. We surfed quite a few couches during our travels, and were always grateful to hosts who had a bed/couch/floor to share, as well as their stories and their culture. Whether hosting or surfing, it's all been amazing. I hosted close to 50 folks back when I lived in Jackson, and always couchsurf instead of stay in hotels when I'm on the road.
I live in a town house in New Hampshire now, and would love to meet up with other CS hosts or people passing through for coffee. I'm not able to host just yet, but that may change soon.
Interests
Being a sponge and soaking up everything the world has to offer. Also, good books, local beers, Kentucky bourbon and college basketball, anything related to the movement, the intersection of our own activist causes into the greater movement itself, and people who are dedicated to making the world a better place.

Music, Movies, and Books
Way too many to list here. When we meet up I'll tell you all about it, or you can just hear my playlists and peruse my bookshelf.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I took a Belgian couchsurfer on a random trip into the Mississippi Delta to see B.B. King at his homecoming concert in Indianola, MS after she told me she loved the blues. I talked us into some press credentials, took her right up front, and B.B. King himself invited us onto the stage at one point.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a few things about drumming, delta blues and getting people riled up to take action. Maybe you know some languages I don't know yet. Or maybe you're a great belly dancer. Maybe you're an alligator wrestler. I'm down to learn new things if you are!
