ABOUT ME

I'm a college junior currently spending my spring semester abroad in Paris! I'm woefully under-traveled and have accepted that I can't even begin to make up for it in these few short months, but it's a start. I'm hoping to save up some money to continue traveling after graduation (and before real life starts).

At home, I grew up in the suburbs of New York City and attend Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. I'm majoring in Urban Studies and love to visit, learn about and talk about different cities. Like to explore and just kind of go with the flow. I'm very laid-back and totally open to meeting new people!

PHILOSOPHY

I'm very open-minded and a laid-back person. I'm generally pretty calm but also love to have fun. Working on being more outgoing because I believe the more you break out of your comfort zone, the more you learn in the long run (even if it's hard at first!). I want to have as many new experiences as I can so I'll have great stories when I'm old and gray.

Right now since I am studying abroad and living with a host mother, I can't host, but am looking forward to surfing experiences and have heard great things!

Música, películas y libros

Music: My tastes are always changing, but I am pretty consistently into indie/alternative rock. Recently took on expanding my country music and hip-hop collections, and I grew up listening to the old soul and Motown music my dad loved, plus my mom's folk/folk-rock, all of which I still love. I'm pretty open to almost anything you'd like to show me!

Movies: I have a soft spot for movies from the 80s about high school (particularly John Hughes movies) - The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, Say Anything...
I'll admit I haven't seen a ton of movies, but love dark comedies, beautiful cinematography and will appreciate anything visually over-the-top, even if I don't love it (Moulin Rouge is one of my favorites)

Books: Was a total bookworm as a kid and shamefully my reading dropped off, but I'm actively trying to fix that. High Fidelity is one of my favorites, and I love the French author Maupassant for his bizarre short stories. Looking to read some more of the major Russian authors, or pretty much anything!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I've gotten a lot more interested in (and I hope a lot better at) cooking recently, and love to cook for and with others. It's a great communal experience and so easy to share knowledge about. I'm also decent at French (improving this semester I hope!) so can help you practice a little French or English. Pretty open to learning just about anything!
