About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn while having fun and meet cool and crazy people along the way :)

ABOUT ME

Grew up in the Philippines, went to grad school in Philadelphia. Worked for a bit in the east coast, lived in Chicago for two years, lived in Boston for 4 years. Just recently moved to Seattle to be with my husband, another couchsurfer, Kevin -- https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/kandc so now we are co-hosts! :)

I am doing my Phd in child development and would like to do research work in education (what's that? :)) I would say just a systematic way of finding out the best ways children learn, teachers teach etc... but let me tell you more if you really want to know.

I'm really good at eating :) Sometimes I do a happy clap when I'm enjoying the food. I like all sorts of food, not really into the exotic but will try anything once. I always have room for dessert!

I also like typing! I learned using a honest to goodness typewriter! :)

And my nickname is Cricket! I wish I had a better explanation why but maybe you can help me come up with that ! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to show CSers the cool spots in the city where I live depending on their interest. I also want them to taste the yummy food I've tried!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been a member for awhile but still consider myself a couchsurfing newbie -- trying to experiment in baby steps, I've also been hanging out with cool couchsurfer in Chicago so that helps! and so far the people I've met have been great :)

Interests

Here are some things I hope to do soon: learn spanish, take more photos, go wall climbing, go boxing, go trapezeing (again!) learn how to to cook! :)

  • education
  • dining
  • cooking
  • boating
  • boxing

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - depends on my mood but yes I like chick flicks but will not make you watch with me unless it's a really really good one and you will learn from it :)

Books - I haven't been reading much lately because I read a lot for work. I've been reading mostly about stuff I'm interested in like photography, cooking, Chi Walking. I do like young adult fiction (There's a boy in the girls bathroom is one of my favorites) and mysteries. I do love going to the public library!!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being able to spend 2 weeks in Barcelona to visit a close friend, take Spanish class and explore Barcelona was amazing! I really like to stay in a place for a good amount of time to be more familiar with the area, spend time with people and eat at local restaurants :)

However if there's not enough time, I will work with what I can --- I went to Mt. Pilatus in Lucerne by myself --- I call it transportation day because I had only one day available to go to Lucerne so I took a train to Lucerne from Basel, walked around the city, took a boat to the foot of Mt. Pilatus, took the cogwheel up top, took a cable car down the mountain, caught the bus back to the city, boarded the train to Zurich to catch my flight to London all in one day! Phew :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Panama, Russian Federation, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Philippines, United States
