Overview
About Me
Hey, my name is Cristian and I am a 23 year old recent college graduate. I studied sociology and psychology in college, and have just recently left my job to go travel the world, and settle in Australia where I will begin living in November 2017. Ever since my first backpacking trip through Europe a couple of years ago, I have been obsessed with traveling as much as possible. I love both going out and being the most social guy in the room, to hanging out at home on the couch all day watching Netflix. I'm a chill, relaxed, easy going guy, and am always up for a cold beer with friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on here to make new friends and to begin seeing cities through the eyes of a local rather than as a tourist. I travel often but I usually get hung up on how a city "should" be seen as determined by Lonely Planet and other popular sites. Seeing as I will be living outside of the U.S. for a year or so, I'd like my future travel experiences to be a bit different from how I've done it before. I want them to have more substance. I want to make good friends who live in the cities I visit, who can show me around or give me tips on what to do/where to go/what to see. Hopefully, CSing will help me fulfill this mission.
Interests
I am interested in politics, social inequality, writing, reading, art, photography, and talking...lots of talking. I love getting to know people and finding out from them what their interests are and how we are both alike and different. I am also a gay man, so LGBTQ issues are also of interest not just by virtue of my being directly affected, but also because our rights are human rights and I firmly believe that every person on this planet deserves to be treated with the same amount of dignity and respect afforded to any other person. And of course, this goes without saying, but traveling is incredibly interesting to me, and we can discuss more over a drink!

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a wide range of music from indie, to hip hop, to alternative so really anything goes haha. As for movies, I love action movies, drama, not really into romantic comedies, and documentaries are cool. My favorite books are The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, Oedipus, and The Hunger Games series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I've done is actually make the decision to quit my job and move from Massachusetts, USA to Sydney, Australia to live and work there for a year. :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I am willing to teach my hosts as much as I can. Whether its English, Spanish (I'm Dominican), or cooking, or even just about American society and comparing it to that of theirs, I am open to teaching my hosts and learning about anything they can tell me.
I am planning on taking in as much information and insight that I can which will surely benefit me in my future studies.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am willing to help out around the home I stay at as much as I can. I love to cook so that would certainly be an easy way to help out. I'll of course clean up after myself and aim to make friendships with my hosts. Someone who is willing to let me sleep at their place while I travel around the world deserves the utmost gratitude and respect.
