Overview
About Me
I grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico where I was exposed to Art at a young age. Growing up in a large family and the oldest of 4, I have always enjoyed the company of people. I moved to San Francisco to attend the California College of the Arts where I studied Art History and Painting. After school I moved to NYC where I worked for MoMA. I love the outdoors, growing up in Santa Fe we have 4 seasons and winter is my favorite. I learned how to ski at a young age and use to race. I also love to cook and learn about new cuisines. Every time I go out to eat and enjoy whatever I had at the time, I try to recreate it at home. I am more of a hands on learner and whatever the task may be, I am usually confident about finding a way to make it work. As a kid I use to take apart our electronics to see what was inside and figure out how things worked. I do remember taking the remote control apart when i was 5 and that time it would backfire and everyone would have to get off the sofa to change the channel. In the end we watched less TV and spent more time playing games as a family so it still had a happy ending.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My life long friend Lisa introduced me to the CS community and it has been nothing but great experiences. I first started off as a host and very much enjoyed offering a fun and creative place for people to stay while visiting. It was not until i booked my first trip to Germany that i has the opportunity to be hosted. All of these years later I am still good friends with my Berlin Host Conny. I appreciate the CS community because for me it is the best way to experience a new place. I always like to offer up any help or Art and cooking/cleaning for letting me stay. After the experience you have made a new friends and feel like you have really lived in that location rather than just feeling like a tourist.
Interests
Art has always been my number one passion and something that really drives me. Outdoor activities are a good way to balance out all of the indoor activities. Skiing, hiking, soccer, golf and running are some of the things i like to do when outside. One thing i can not leave off the list is cooking/baking. I love to cook and how to put that creative energy into the food that you eat. A couple years ago I got into baking bread and it is a daily ritual that really grounds me and never hurts to show up with a loaf of fresh baked bread.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently took a trip to Mexico City so now this is my new amazing thing that I have accomplished. I booked the trip for a particular reason. Material Art Fair which is an independent fair that hosts many great galleries, art spaces and small presses. The Fair was a great experience but visiting CDMX really took me to another place. There is an amazing energy there filled with so many great places to eat, things to see.
Teach, Learn, Share
Attending a traditional craft school I had the opportunity to learn many interesting processes. Paper making, glass blowing, ceramics and painting. My father also taught me a lot about building and learning how an entire home is constructed. Everyday can be a learning experience. This in essence is the reason for being on CS. To learn from those around us and to share that knowledge.
What I Can Share with Hosts
For me sharing is caring, growing up as the oldest, I was always told to share what i had with my sister and brothers. I live with the idea that what is mine is yours, or my house is your house. I feel like this mentality makes us all accountable and teaches us how to respect all things. That being said if someone does not share this philosophy I completely understand and would never push this belief system on other. I do think that CS is a place where many share similar beliefs and another reason why I feel at home with-in the CS community.
