About Me

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly, trustworthy, definitely adventurous, and environmentally friendly individual. I try just about anything once just for the experience and I would travel to every country in the world if I could. I am currently serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Fiji where I am helping a small village with their development plans. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people, especially those with different cultural backgrounds than my own. I'm an avid traveler and a mediocre singer (but I naturally sing all the time!).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am still new to CS and have been trying to get more and more involved with it but I am constrained by my limited access to internet, which I only manage to get for a few hours every two weeks or so.

But if you're curious or just want to chat send me a message and I'll try to get back to you asap! :)

Interests

As a Peace Corps volunteer I have a surprising amount of time on my hands. I spend it by teaching myself how to play guitar, learning how to garden and maintain an effective compost bin (mainly waging war with the village dogs), or going on an adventure in the bush with one of the locals (this also includes going free diving or spear fishing out on the reef break since our village is right on the water). Before I came to Fiji, my passion was (and still is) scuba diving. I really enjoy this recreational sport and intend to get certified as an instructor one day. I am a bio-geek. Lastly, I find that I tend to enjoy life most (with all its crazy facets) when I am sharing it with family and friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Being part of an impossible moment of spontaneity in which my university intramural broomball team and I came across a crowd of people dancing outside a dormitory late one night to the blasting music coming from a Halloween party inside. We all had zombie face paint on (in the spirit of Halloween) for our just finished broomball game and as we were making our way through the crowd the song changed to Michael Jackson's Thriller. One of the zombies in our group shouted "Everybody down!" Everyone threw themselves down on the ground and all 30 or 40 of us started twitching and crawling forward. The entire group then proceeded to perform the entire thriller zombie dance (taking our lead from the one or two people who actually knew the moves) as if it was a practiced and coordinated event. We drew a huge crowd. When it finished my team and I continued on our way as if nothing happened. It was sheer awesomeness.

2. Black water rafting the Waitomo caves in NZ

3. Feeding sharks for a living
