About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore the world with my wife Kristina!

ABOUT ME

I'm just traveling around with my wife, living out of a backpack, starting a business. I'm always having a good time learning about people. I'm a really curious person, and I'm always trying to understand the way that other live. I can't stand stereotypes and misconceptions about other people - breaking down those barriers is something that I try to do through travel.

PHILOSOPHY

People are happiest when they are with others - but they need to remove themselves from that comfort for self introspection. When they return, the learnings that can only occur when alone can then be applied to make life more enjoyable, and the experience with others richer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to offer my coach or guest bed to those who truly want to travel - I want to teach them what it is to live in Boston, MA not as a tourist, but as a local. .

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience was a few years ago when I couchsurfed for three weeks in Hermosa Beach, California, USA and had one of the best times of my life. We all cooked together, played some volleyball on the beach out the front door, and relaxed during the long sunsets on the back deck. I want to bring that kind of hospitality to my guests.

Now I've hosted couch surfers in my own home in Florence, Italy, and continue to couch surf around the world.

Interests

I love being outside and figuring out ways to explore the natural world in different ways - whether its underwater, on skis or hiking through the forests camping. I love to push myself physically, and I get a huge thrill from things that scare me - I love to climb, jump off of rocks on my skis and solo backpack - when I'm totally self reliant I feel alive.

I like to experience the world, not just see it through a camera lens.

I backpack. I read. I play the piano. I flyfish. I ski. I collect old maps wherever I go. Let's hang out!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My friends and I were on a roadtrip in northern Italy near the lakes, and we rented a car for a day to drive up into the Alps. We spent two hours driving up switchbacks in 1st gear through the woods, cruising through little tunnels past waterfalls and castles, and finally we went up this one last hill and up and out into these HUGE mountains and snow fields - it was blinding white and blue, and we were the only people out there -

Another time I was traveling in Marrakech, Morocco and our Moroccan Berber friend invited us to his family's mud house to celebrate their Eid al Fattah celebration - we were sitting around drinking mint tea and eating cookies in their open air living room, when his father walked in dressed in full ceremonial clothing and a live sheep. He proceeded to sacrifice and butcher the sheep, which we then ate an hour later, sitting under the trees in an olive grove -

Teach, Learn, Share

I will share my understanding of wine and gastronomy with anybody interested. I'll teach you how to tie a fisherman's knot or your shoelaces if you want.

I'd love to learn more about cooking different cusine - I'm looking to learn some basic salsa dancing skills
