Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We love hosting, meeting people at CS events and getting more involved with the local CS community as well. I also get a kick out of introducing friends to the website and concept and watch their jaws drop with amazement at how "crazy" people can be :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Getting out of your comfort bubble, making friends for life, learning about the world and exchanging ideas..that's what CS is all about :)
Interests
Food! Wine! Music! Hiking! Interesting people! Creativity! Community! Exploring and experiencing cultures, places and meeting new people of course :)My latest passion is learning and teaching folks more about food and nutrition, American History and the architecture of Jacksonville and trying to do at least 20 perfect-form pushups (FAIL).If you visit us on a weekend, we'll take you to out favorite neighborhood Farmers Market...Saturdays and Sundays are the happiest days of the week!

Music, Movies, and Books
Between Rajat and me, you'll find several genres represented here. Kanika : Historical Fiction, Science, Biographical, some good ol' classicsRajat : History, Economics, Finance, Science FictionMusic : Rock, Jazz, Folk, International, Eclectic.Movies : Foreign films, Psychological thrillers, Dramas, etc. In general, Rajat likes the darker and depressing movies (!) which I grudgingly watch with him. I like anything that gives me a sense of how people/families live all over the world.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think I need to better the number of amazing experiences in my life. I'm hoping to get some inspiration from all the couchsurfers I meet :)
Here are some "amazing" things in any case
- Raised a chicken on our patio
- Met Regina Spektor after her phenomenally awesome concert
- "Planked" for 4 mins straight (and my abs hurt just thinking about it)
- Met my husband on the Internet :)
- Cooked for 400 people
- Invented quinoa-rotis
- Bought a guitar on an impulse and deeply fell in love with chords and songwriting at one point of time in life
- Backpacked and couchsurfed in Turkey
- Seen innumerable sunsets by the ocean in Mumbai..till date I haven't seen a more vibrant sky in any other part of the world. Sunsets make me poetic :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always up for teaching / learning / sharing in the kitchen! Food is my forte ;)
I'd love to learn new musical instruments too!
