About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To finish my PhD dissertation. To establish a new life in Boston.
To write, to read, to write, to read, oh and to travel.
ABOUT ME
I work at a tech startup, building an iPhone app that will soon be live in the Apple Store.
In the meantime, I am translating a sociology book on religion and modernization from English to Turkish.
When it comes to traveling, I'm interested in discovering cities rather than nature, therefore I'm trying my best to see every big city in Europe.. want to find cool places during the day, to read and write, and then go out at night for drinking and/or dancing...
Now I am discovering Boston, even though the snow has only just melted away and gave way to some warming sun. I think I will move on to the knowledge deepening phase in a few months, after having figured out what is going on in this beautiful and peaceful city.
PHILOSOPHY
Humanist and positive. Enjoy good chat, good music. I love books and bookstores, and people who are doing interesting things with their lives.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm hosting people as much as I can do, and tell about it to the people who might contribute to it. I am trying to participate in CS meetings, as well.
These days I cannot host because I am roommate with a married couple with a kid (our house is big, thankfully) but I'd be glad to meet people and show them around in Boston.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When written in numbers, it looks smaller than I thought since I got to meet so many people thanks to CS meetings in Hamburg and Istanbul and Lyon. I hope you guys will help me increasing that account.
Still, in sum,
I hosted people from:
Denmark: 2
Sweden: 1
Russia: 2
Germany: 2
Kazakhstan: 1
I surfed:
Sweden: 1 (payback visit)
Denmark: 3 (payback visit)+ a new CSer
France: 2
Poland: 1
There are probably couple of ones I forgot when I counted, but that does not matter that much.
Interests
Reading (I'm not kidding, I like reading very much). I set yearly reading challenges on Goodreads but I can rarely fulfill them. Still, reading.

Traveling (well, that should be obvious. I feel like an X years old person should have seen X number of countries. Think about it, we live somewhere between 70-80 years -except maybe the Swedish and the Japanese who live longer- and there are more than 200 countries and almost a thousand cities worth seeing in the world, therefore my wish is not too ambitious. I managed to visit 15 or so countries so far.)
Update 2014: Number of countries - 16. still not so good, but I make an effort.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is too varied to define. Born in early 80s, so go figure.
Books, I mentioned above. Lots of non fiction, some literature, as well as history. I do not like self help.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach Turkish maybe, = )
I am open to learn new languages, cooking skills, anything you could teach me.
Oh also, any good book recommendations are welcome.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Long walks, long chats (or short chats. I am not a politican =D )
A nice, peaceful and talkative stay if we are willing.
