Hello! I’m Cullen, originally from Sydney, Australia!
I graduated in 2023 from University and before I start a postgraduate degree I wanted to take a year to travel around the world and explore the beauty of different cultures. I much prefer a local experience than one that is too tourist oriented, and so this is why I want to use this app!

I love striking up conversations about mutual passions and interests. A massive passion of mine is watching and discussing films from all around the world, because it gives me a little snapshot into another culture and time period. I also love music, and collecting records of my favourite albums. I am definitely someone who dives super deep and becomes obsessed with any interest I pick up, so I love to talk passionately about these things.

When it comes to travelling, I enjoy walking around new cities and simply trying to immerse myself in the local lifestyle. I usually spend slightly less time in museums and landmarks, and more time trying out local food, drink, and culture!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really want to explore the world through a local perspective, rather than simply following tourist recommendations. Trips where I have hung out with a friend from that area have been by far my favourites, as you only really learn the true culture of a country when you go beneath the surface to a more local experience.

I love (almost) all genres of music but I do really enjoy some Hip Hop: My favourites being Kanye West, MF DOOM, Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, Kendrick Lamar
Aside from Hip Hop, I’m a big fan of The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, The Smiths, The Strokes, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, etc..

When it comes to Movies, this is one of my biggest passions! Films from all genres and countries interest me. From Cronenberg and Lynch to Scorsese and Kubrick, I really enjoy movies across the board!
