About Me

Art has been my most central focus for as long as I've been aware of my self as a distinct entity. I approach most situations with excitement and am always looking for ways to collaborate and learn from other people.

My first priority is to my various projects, serving as the director of the Bellingham Alternative Library and Neoglyphic Media, and also a collective member of the Lookout Arts Quarry. Much of my time is spent happily working on each of those projects.

I hope to find unexpected connections with other global citizens.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been couch surfing and hosting travelers for years before discovering this resource and love to keep the cycles in motion.

About ten years ago myself and some friends started an enormous cooperative house which has hosted hundreds of couchsurfers, no joke, as well as housing over 150 residents, animals, plants, and non-corporeal entities.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed extensively independently of couchsurfing.org and also hosted many (easily over 100) couchsurfers in the various cooperative houses which I've been a part of.

Interests

As a genuinely and broadly interested person, its hard for me to say anything of my interests without feeling that I'm being too short.
Some vast concepts that I can and do explore deeply:
Art, Music, Books, Community, Politics, Technology

  • cats
  • arts
  • books
  • politics
  • technology
  • music
  • hiking
  • sailing
  • bicycling

Music, Movies, and Books

Most of all I love things my friends create! If you have a craft and you're going for it, I'd love to see what you're working on and what's driving you creatively.

Music has been hugely informative of my character. I play when I can, and am able to find a comfortable voice with traditional and improvised instruments. I like birdsong and field recordings, and accidental sounds are some of my favorite sounds, but I also like to play records, and keep going back to:
Bill Frisell, John Lurie, Ennio Morricone, Wayne Horvitz, Eyvind Kang, Mica Levi, Bonnie Prince Billy, Frank Zappa... Music is THE BEST!

I love underground and experimental comics and would be overjoyed to meet anyone who shares that interest. Some more known artists I get a kick out of are: Moebius, Julie Doucet, Olivier Schrauwen, Marc Bell, Ray Johnson, Leomi Sadler, Gary Panter, Charles Burns, Dash Shaw, and SO MUCH MORE!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most extreme adventures I've had while traveling came while hitch-hiking to the Northern California redwoods in November with one of my best friends. There are more stories from that trip than I could ever tell in one sitting.

As a child my family would spend weeks sailing throughout the San Juan Islands on our boat, which I grew up on.

Lately I've been sticking around home to work on various community arts projects, and have helped to develop some spaces in the town where I live.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to create or debate with just about anyone. I have a lot to share, but also a lot to learn, as my knowlege tends to be very specifically focused.
