ABOUT ME
Being a discoverer, I'm always in search for interesting people, places and challenges. Originally coming from Germany I'm pretty often changing my professions and the places to stay. So I spent a part of my school time in Italy, lived as an artist in France, wrote a book traveling around in North America, worked as an architect on the lovely island La Réunion and as a consultant in Turkey and in the tiny Kingdom of Bahrain. After two years in the Middle East I did then move to Spain in order to do a PhD about the interfaces between architecture and tourism. But what can I say, I do have ants in my pants and China is for sure a very interesting place for modern architecture. Hence, after six month learning Chinese in Beijing, I moved for 18 month to China's south, teaching at the university, doing research and enjoying life :-). Yet, as we say in Germany, "Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei". Hence, I am back home again, working as a Professor of Tourism Management in the beautiful city of Munich.
PHILOSOPHY
To live great moment's, whenever it is possible and never give up on my dreams.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Whenever you come to a new place, it's important to have people that are ready to help you out without any ulterior motive than a great heart and the interest in other cultures.
That's what always happened to me and I am very grateful of all the fantastic moments people gave me with a ride, a place to stay or just a great discussion. That is what made and makes my travels so unforgettable and that is what I would like to give back. CS is a great way to do this. And possibly the most important - it's a great way to know interesting people and sometimes even make new friends.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Till now only good ones, whether I had the luck to get hosted, hosted guests myself or just met CS travelers for a drink.
Interests
Way too many! That's possibly why I do not stop to change my professions, locations etc. Anyway, I love - as do most CS-members - traveling. I also enjoy pretty much every type of sport - even those I do not understand ;-). Painting and art as well as writing have been major interest, but unfortunately the lack of time makes it very difficult to stay tuned to it.
