ABOUT ME

Hi! My name's Alex. I'm from Missouri in the US. I tend to be on the quiet side, but comfortable. I'm very into helping people out when I can, and discovering what new stuff the world has to offer.

PHILOSOPHY

Oh if only it were that simple... :) My personal philosophy is still under construction. But right now what I can be sure of is that relationships are what make life most rewarding for me, and treating everyone with respect makes me feel best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've not been in much of a position to host since I've been travelling myself. As I'm now looking for a spot to settle I look forward to changing this!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never officially couchsurfed before, but I have hosted surfers. Also I've wwoofed in Argentina and Mexico, which may be a bit similar to CS. In any case it is awesome. I like to work hard and stay busy while I'm travelling, and sharing a common task is a great way to get to know people.

Interests

I'm interested in travelling of course, and art and music, especially live. I'd say I enjoy around 90% of live shows I go to, regardless of genre. I also am a sucker for pinball, bowling, and darts. I enjoy dancing (poorly!)and going out at night time for a drink or several. I just feel like a curious person...I want to see and do more, right now.

Music, Movies, and Books

Like things that make me feel/laugh, or are outstanding works of beauty in themselves. List time! I like: Lord of the Rings Trilogy, books by Chuck Palahniuk, David Sedaris, Vladimir Nabokov, Bill Bryson, and I really enjoy and the worldview of Carl Sagan.

Music depends on the time, the place and the mood. I can enjoy most genres though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One recent accomplishment I'm proud of is starting a small language school in Haiti this year. Ask me about it?!

My favorite job I'll never have is pinball coach I think the game can be beautiful and it's a shame it's dying out.

Also if you live in a good sized city or if you visit me in one I'd love to introduce you to bike polo.
