About Me

ABOUT ME

I love exploring new places, finding great restaurants (vegetarian/vegan in particular), drinking in quirky bars, and taking pictures of what I find/eat/drink! I am a music lover that plays in an all-girl 60s garage rock band and I adore discovering cool bands that I would have never heard of if I wasn't traveling.

I'm generally an easy going person that appreciates the little things in life. I try not to take anything for granted.

PHILOSOPHY

Science is my religion but I'm open to the existence of everything. I've been reading a bit of Eckhart Tolle lately and gravitate towards a mindful Buddhist-type attitude towards life. My personal philosophy is always changing and developing and morphing as a result of my life experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love meeting people, sharing stories, teaching, and learning. Life is all about the experiences you share with other people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed a couple times during a past trip to the US and found it really fun and rewarding. Unfortunately I haven't had much experience hosting through this site (I have previously hosted friends-of-friends and it was great!) but I hope that will change later this year once my new house is set up.

Interests

I love animals, brains, yoga, trees, flowers, language & dirty jokes. I like to cook, bake, play music, drink whiskey, read, paint, be sarcastic, create stuff, philosophize, listen to the blues, garden, and organise things. I take lots of pictures of food and graffiti (especially in bathrooms). I order everything I can with extra pickles. I think too much and overanalyse most things. I also play in an all-girl 60s garage band which is heaps of fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

A few favourite movies include I Heart Huckabees, Amelie, Elf, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Bridesmaids, Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides, Garden State, Best in Show, The Royal Tenenbaums, Zoolander, Baraka, and more I can't think of on the spot!

As for music I'm pretty diverse, I play guitar in a 60s garage band at the moment so I'm learning about that scene. Depending on my mood you'll find me listening to anything from old blues to indie to classic rock to classical and everything in between!

And books... hmm it's been a while since I've read anything besides a research article for uni so I will just say The Stranger changed my life as did The Bell Jar and The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once went tubing in an underground cave in New Zealand which was pretty cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

What could I teach? hmm vegan baking and cooking, psychology related things, Australian and American slang, dog/cat care, some yoga, a few things on guitar, and I'm sure many other things I can't think of right now!

I want to learn EVERYTHING! As much as possible. All the time! Also I'm happy to share whatever I can.
