About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Run freely, fly freely, and think freely

ABOUT ME

I'm pretty quiet for the most part. Nervous, even. I write and read more than I talk. But I tend to open up and joke around a bit more within groups of people who are out for fun, happiness, and life.

Everything that involves getting tanned under the sun is fair game for me - if you don't try something new, how would you know if you'll like it?

Despite having the rather tedious job of web developer, I'm more inclined towards the arts, even if I can't name all the famous artists in the last two decades or something. But yes, I can be a bit nerdy...

I'm no party animal or a drinker, except the rare occasion of a good cider. I also think way too much for my own good - it's like absolutely everything has to have a reason or something, a reason for action, a reason for existence, etc. In short, I drive myself nuts sometimes. Fun activities tend to break that cycle.

PHILOSOPHY

Humans are gods. Little flesh-and-blood gods with free will and power ready to do good - if they know about their abilities, that is. Therefore, I try to live my life without regret or guilt, face up to the sun rather than down to the ground. Admittedly, I'm still trying to practice what I preach.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a beginner couchsurfer, so I haven't yet figured out how to support the CouchSurfing community. But I try to keep an open mind and give equally back what I receive - in kindness, in trust, and in charity.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a newbie! Well, kinda - I've met a few fellow CS folks in Hawaii, and a bunch in the Bay Area. I'm looking for chances to travel and meet people of all happy backgrounds. Hopefully, when I have a better idea of where I can call home, I can open my door for fellow CouchSurfers!

Interests

Friends, food (particularly vegetarian/vegan, even though I'm not vegetarian), smiles, philosophy, arts of all kind, music music music to dance to, literature, everything that makes us human and not animals

Really, just about anything that's not technology-related. Or maybe tech-related. We'll see.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Melodic death metal, usually European bands. I also love psytrance, chillout electronica, some classic rock, classical music, and the occasional band with no category.

Books: I'm a big graphic novel/comic fan! At the top of the list are Maus, Persepolis, Blankets, Bone, Black Hole, Jimmy Corrigan, and tons of others. Too bad I haven't figured out what genres I actually like, but superhero is definitely NOT my thing. Except some Batman ones :P

For normal books... hard to say. I usually read books after I've read their graphic novel adaptations.

Movies: I like movies that make me either think, squirm, cry, and/or laugh. More on the thinking than the entertainment side of things. Some examples are Primer, Requiem for a Dream, Der Untergang, The Thing, Snatch, Eastern Promises, and Insomnia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once in Santa Cruz, I saw the beach littered with HUNDREDS of washed-up jellyfish. Wiggly purple-ish dots on the beach. Quite a sight to see in the California sunset.

Standing in the plaza outside the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley, seeing almost the entire East Bay and the ocean under an orange sleepy sun, with nothing but a big smile on my face and the best calm in the world

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share tips on how to run barefoot from a beginner's perspective. But seriously, I'm not sure what I can share. I'm still learning about various things - writing, graphic novels, living life. Maybe I can teach and learn whatever comes my way.
