Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I was raised listening to flamenco music at home. My father used to play flamenco guitar as he was a disciple of Diego del Gastor. I started playing when I was a teenager. I played piano before, but one day I noticed that it was difficult to bring the piano to all parties. So I lstarted replicating what I had heard so many years before from my father, and then, I practiced and shared it with other people in the piazzas of Seville. I developed a quite peculiar style when playing flamenco guitar, and I still like listening to flamenco classics such as Tomas Pavon, Terremoto, El Torta and El Agujeta. I also listen to other music such as Sigur Ros , Jose Gonzalez, Radio Head and I still fancy Silvio Rodriguez.

Here a bunch of film directors I admire: Ozu, Dreyer, Raphelson, Kubrik, I also enjoy Anderson and Nolan

I always wanted to be a writer. When I was 20 I was sure I would become one, and I still think today that it will happen. I write poetry, but I am generally too shy to show it to others. Some of my favourite authors are: Thomas Bernhard, Roberto Bolaño, Karl Ove Knausgard, David Foster Wallace, W. G. Sebald, J. M. Coetzee, Juan Carlos Onetti, Paul Eluard and Luis Cernuda

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if this is amazing, but I remeber a funny story that happened to me some years ago. It was at a party, in Los Angeles, where we were meeting some guys playing in a band named Sukio. That night I was supposed to drive back all friends home so I couldn't drink anything. In the end, you know, I had some beers. I thought it would be a good idea to eat something substantial to reduce alcohol effects. There was an amazing cake in front of me and my first intuitive reaction was to eat as much as I could from it. It was too late when I noticed that it was "space cake" and I was driving back home with a car full of drunk people.

It happens in this kind of occassions that police ends up stopping you. And it happened again... My eyes were particularly red this time because of the dope and the policeman was asking me why. He was asking what I was doing on a tuesday at 3 am in LA. I was so high that I said whatever came to my mind: and yes, mr. policeman, I said, my eyes are so red because your are with that horrible torch on my face! Suddenly, I surrendred. I recognized that I was coming from a party. However, I was able to explain to them that I was not partying at all. I was hired as a guitar player. I saw a guitar in the back seat and that was my better chance at that time. They didn't believe it so I had to play for them a couple of songs. They were ejoying it so much... It was funny, surreal... But in the end, I got fined. I was driving all the way with no lights... so high!
