Über mich
I am a software engineer from Washington, D.C. Two years ago, I was working at a wealth management firm in Boston. I decided I needed some change, so I quit my job, sold my stuff, bought a small travel backpack, and bought a one-way ticket to Europe. I traveled for a year, visiting 18 countries / ~100 cities in Europe and Asia. Now I'm back in the States and starting my life anew in Austin. I am currently working as an engineer at a quantum dot startup.

Interessen
I enjoy talking to people and exchanging experiences and learning in the process. I enjoy learning about the history and culture of places when I travel and getting to know local people.
Back home I enjoy kayaking, biking, basketball, and yoga. I am really inspired by artistic creativity and love music, film, books, art, and technology. In my down time, I like to sing and play the piano and I always have a book with me. Recently, I've been attending hackathons / tech demos / maker days and geeking out :D. I am also a huge foodie and I love to cook and bake. I am very interested in philosophy and can go on and on about it.
Honestly, I'm interested in a lot of things and I'm always looking to learn more and more. Things I need to learn: 1) how to dance, 2) how to dress fashionably, 3) how to play the ukulele, 4) the intricacies of Python, 5) anything you would like to teach me.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
I love all types of music from folk to pop, classical to R&B, but right now I'm really digging the following artists: Gallant, Broods, Purity Ring, and Odesza.
My favorite movie of all time is Forrest Gump though The Truman Show is a close second. Tom Hanks and Jim Carrey are two of my favorite actors. Stanley Kubrick my favorite director and I really like Wes Anderson as well. My favorite movie soundtrack is Requiem for a Dream, which is a really dark but thought provoking movie.
If I had to recommend something to read, I would pick Flowers for Algernon. Some of my other favorite books include: Brave New World, Ender's Game, Of Mice and Men, 1984, and Les Miserables. I also thoroughly enjoy reading Malcolm Gladwell's pieces.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I quit my job in financial tech, got rid of my apartment, sold/donated most of my possessions, and bought a one way ticket to Europe without a plan. I lived out of a 46L backpack and made up an itinerary as I went. I hitchhiked across Europe and met tons of awesome friends. Before I knew it, I was in Asia, learning to dive and ride motorbikes. I ended up at an ecofarm in the Philippines before I headed back. This was the most eye opening experience of my life!
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I'm down to do a hackathon with anyone I meet! :D
But more realistically, I just want us to share our life experiences and get to know each other better. I love to teach and would be more than willing to teach basic programming, Traditional Chinese, English, and cooking! Definitely cooking! Yum! :p.
I am up for learning anything. But some of my favorites would be to learn how to cook traditional meals in your region, to learn a few words in your native language, and learn how to play a song or dance.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
I can share my time and experiences and connections I have to wonderful people around the world! Also, I don't mind cooking a meal or two! :D I'm open to teaching anything that I know and am always open to learning.
