About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to make it count

ABOUT ME

Hey there! My name is Curtis, but most people just call me Curt. I'm twenty-five years old and have spent the majority of those years growing up in West Virginia. Recently I decided to pack up a few things and move to Austin totally by myself. I'm here with the hopes of seeing some kickass music, getting a great tan and meeting some fun new people along the way. I love to read & run and try to make time for both everyday. I am currently serving coffee for a living. I'd consider myself an extremely easygoing guy and tend to get along with just about everyone I meet.

PHILOSOPHY

The day i stopped trying to figure it out, i realized I'd figured it out.

There are countless factors that contribute to how each person thinks and acts at any given time. Many years ago, i convinced myself that the very core of each person's spirit is a good & positive thing, and that anything negative that one might emit is the result of something negative outside of one's self. I seek to find that goodness that I believe is within each person and encourage them to exercise that truest part of themselves. Yup, I'm a crazy person. Namaste.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I use CouchSurfing to have more personal, fun experiences when I venture off to other cities (as well as save a little money! let's be honest). I've yet to host anyone at my apartment, but I'm excited to do so in hopes of returning the kindness that I've received through this site to the Universe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've used CouchSurfing a few times now and honestly, each experience has been sheer bliss. Sure, i understand the idea of staying with someone that you don't know (yet!) might be scary to some; there are plenty of scary people in this world. But there are also a lot of wonderful people out there too, and this site has helped me to see that in some way. Let us not forget - Good still exists!

Interests

Seeing live music is undoubtedly the best way to spend an evening. Not far behind that would include:

- dancing
- going out for drinks
- getting ready to go out, lol
- KARAOKE
- italian food
- any food, really
- beer. lots of beer.
- jogging on trails
- visiting a new city
- jam sessions (i can't play but i'll sing!)
- getting totally lost in a book
- yoga/pilates
- staying in & killing a bottle of wine

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to watch a good movie, but I could never pick a favorite. My libra-rising makes it nearly impossible for me to do something like that, haha. I WILL say that I'm always down for a Titanic or Mean Girls night with my besties. i love Sundance. i love to cry. i love any movie that's going to make me either die laughing or feel emotionally unstable. i usually love the movie night 'experience' more than the movie itself - so there's that.

I tend to get hooked on certain songs/albums and just play the hell out of them. it's a horrible habit of mine (just ask my roommate! lol) currently, I'm obsessed with Sam Smith, Lykke Li, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, The War on Drugs & St. Vincent, just to name a few.

i have a special place in my heart for Jack Kerouac and writings about the Beat Generation. Dharma Bums is potentially my favorite book. I also like Herman Hesse a lot (especially Narcissus and Goldmund). I really enjoy spiritual &/or adventurous-spirited books. I'm also a huge fan of drug addiction memoirs, such as Beautiful Boy & A Million Little Pieces. I have a theory that if you can still sense the book in your hands, it's not worth reading. I do still enjoy a silly fictional book every now & then though, such as The Hunger Games. I don't believe that life has to be taken so seriously all of the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i've been blessed to have already experienced countless breathtaking moments in my life, but if i had to pick only one, i'd have to say that my favorite experience so far has been snorkeling off of the Florida Keys back in '07. being underwater with those huge, beautiful creatures made me feel something that i will never be able to put into words.

Teach, Learn, Share

i can make a mean latté. i'm pretty good at finding harmonies too.
