About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Searching for Truth

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, I went to university in British Columbia just outside of Vancouver(where I lived for about five years), my family now lives in Oklahoma and I used to live and work seasonally in Alaska and the Yukon territory of Canada while I would travel the world during the off season then lived there for a couple years through the winters (burrr....). I'm back in the Northwest now, living in Seattle and working for a non-profit.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm still working that one out. I'm currently on my way out of evangelical Christianity and on my way into pluralist existentialism. I'd love to talk more about it if you're interested. I find that dialogue is the best forum for building one's personal philosophy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I absolutely love CS! In a lot of ways couchsuring has restored my view of humanity. So far I've Couchsurfed in Hawaii (Kauai and the Big Island), DC, Boston, Quebec, Ontario, Detroit, Chicago, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, North Carolina, Nashville and Miami. I've finally started to ease out of my nomad ways and can now host in Anchorage, Ak.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've CouchSurfed in Alaska, Hawaii, Eastern Canada, Northeast US/New England, the Midwest/Great Lakes area, all over South America and in the Southern US. It has been amazing everytime. Such a great way to experience new places and get a real understanding for what they are like. Because I'm kind of all over the place I can rarely host (May through September I can host in Fairbanks, Ak) but if I happen to be in somewhere else in Alaska, BC, Oregon or Oklahoma and you're traveling through one of those areas I'd love to go for coffee/drinks and tell you about those places!

Interests

Love, Truth, New Experiences, Psychology, Philosophy, Theology, Photography, Existentialism, Travel, Snowboarding, Camping, Running, Hiking, Climbing Things, Music, Having Real Conversations With People, Education in General, High Ropes Courses, Portland, Latin America, Road Trips, Tattoos, Languages... there's probably some other stuff in there as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been in the Arctic Ocean, rolled a car in Patagonia, been in an 8.8 earthquake, flown over North America's tallest mountain in a six passenger plane, traveled the entire Amazon river from Belém to Colombia by riverboat, and I've spent about a month of my life in a tree (not in straight though haha)...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you all about Christianity, but not in a "I just want to try and convert you because that's what I'm told I'm supposed to do" kind of way. More in a "this is the culture that I came from and it clearly has dominated Western Culture so it is important to understand but I don't actually share its values anymore" kind of way.

I'd love to share some of my limited travel experience. I know a fair bit about Western Canada, the Pacific Northwest of the USA, Alaska/the Yukon, Guatemala and South America.

I can teach you how to prepare meals for 200+ people, and still keep them pretty tasty (I'm still learning how to cook in smaller portions...)

Philosphical ideas I'd like to learn: Any. I love to learn different ways of making sense of the world.
Practicaly Skills I'd like to learn: how to beekeep, make beer/mead, cook good meals from scratch, maintain a bicycle, rock climb like a pro, most languages, and a lot of other stuff too.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela
