CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to not die before I have a child, then to raise it in such a manner that it will be next to impossible for him or her to say of me "What a rotter our father was."

ABOUT ME

I generally don't like to talk about myself, but if you have time and are interested, I will tell you all about growing up in a trailer house in small town minnesota, divorce, parental drug addiction, the whir of a summer field, building modest ice palaces with buckets of water, and almost dying a great many times. All you have to do is ask. If I know someone is interested, it is hard to stop myself.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that if there is any sort of meaning in this world it is completely beyond human comprehension, so I keep myself in check by following the foundational rules of every religion I understand: simplicity, kindness and compassion.

There will never be a best or a worst, and human progress is the earth's nightmare, so sleep my friends, slow down.
Maybe tomorrow will take a bit longer in coming.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I took a couch surfer out to coffee and talked with him for many hours, we exchanged books (I haven't read his yet). I will be happy to supply my couch as soon as I don't have to clear it with 3 other people.

I'm too stoic to be amazed (maybe). I suppose I did get mugged and beaten with my own power drill. That left me shell-shocked.
