ABOUT ME

Hello! How are you?

Chris Wegemer is a man. At least he thinks so. “Chris Wegemer” is a label you can attach to many things and words, not unlike a sticky note.

Once upon a time, he was a graduate student at UCSB. That time is now.

Chris Wegemer is a student and a teacher and intends to stay this way. (Especially because you can’t be one without the other, anyways.)

According to Chris Wegemer, a history of Chris Wegemer would include at least the following: studying physics at Providence College and electrical engineering at Columbia University, doing work for NGOs to provide sustainable energy in rural parts of developing countries, and teaching math and physics at Idyllwild Arts Academy.

Chris is not an alligator, nor has he ever been mistaken for one. But it would be a lie if one were to say that he never bites.

In this chapter, Chris Wegemer is a worker for worker rights. His current work includes doing research for LaborVoices and the Worker Rights Consortium.

After winning a championship in a professional sport, Chris Wegemer would not go to Disney World.

Chris Wegemer is also a mutant. He has a genetic thing called cystic fibrosis, which gives him a special power of having to do an hour of medical treatment three times a day. It is a lung condition, so he can't host any smokers, and he apologizes for that!

PHILOSOPHY

Lovin. Is what i got.

The way that can be known is not the true way.

I like Buddhist and Yogic thought.
Desire causes suffering. Desire is caused by attachment. Attachment is when we include things in the world around us as part of our identity and forget that everything is one and everything is impermanent. Reduce the sense of self, let go, live more simply, be happier.
These sentences are not the way, only fingers pointing at it...

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't watch that many films at all, but when I do, I remember how much I enjoy them. If you care to judge my character based on movies I've seen, I'd say the movies I've watched most frequently in my life have been Gandhi, Into the Wild, Fight Club, The Fountain, then probably some comedy or sci-fi classics.

Vonnegut is my favorite author. But I tend to read mostly textbooks of all flavors. And I find myself reading books about world religions/mysticism/asceticism quite alot.

John Frusciante is the musician that connects most deeply with me. My default music is 90s rock, which I grew up with. But I enjoy all musical styles!

These lists are strange... My identity is much more than a list. : )
