About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to travel somewhere new at least once a month, even if it's only local or a weekend away
ABOUT ME
Small town gal, recently relocated to Chicago. I love to travel by myself and have adventures that are somewhat off the beaten path: hang glide, bike up mountain passes, run myself ragged exploring cities to the point of exhaustion searching for a new experience, something beautiful, or a perspective on things never previously considered. I don't sit still a lot; life is too short, I'm way out of practice, and I've much ground left to cover:
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a bit of a nerdy, studious introvert who loves to be in the company of fascinating people; A country girl who adores the city: the diversity of culture, cuisine, thought.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I recently flew to Arizona where I visited with CS peeps and stayed with a lovely couple; it was scary for me at first but I quickly became more and more delighted with how diverse, fascinating and incredibly hospitable every person I met has been. Had some great times doing night rides in Tempe, NYC, and Portland for 2 am doughnut runs. I've done quite a few CS activities in Milwaukee and Chicago: hosted a trip to a Holi festival at a south Indian temple, surfed during a 24 hour bike race on a team made up of very diverse CS'ers. It's a challenge for me as a quiet midwesterner and someone who's lived in a conservative rural area probably much too long to venture out of my comfort zone and dive headlong into the CS experience but it's been rewarding beyond my wildest imaginings.

Music, Movies, and Books
Documentaries, non fiction. I want to learn something, always. I love all music... jazz, classical, world music, electronica.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I biked the Colorado Rockies a while back after recovering from a big fall and a couple surgeries, really an incredible experience; scary, exhilarating, and completed several bike tours. Lived in my van for a year on a break from college, but haven't traveled much since those young, single days due to family and work responsibilities. I hope to change that in the near future, taking a trip a month of some sort, be it local or overseas.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am more of a student than a teacher when it comes to traveling; I am an experienced organic gardener, nurse and a great cook of all cuisines. If we were stranded on an island, I'd be a good one to have around, I tend to be the one with the first aid/repair kit, the extra food and the sunscreen, lol.
