Overview
About Me
Single - no kids, unless you count my cats. I have a younger attitude and very independent lifestyle. I consider myself to be an ambivert - sometimes introvert and socially an extrovert. I recharge at home by myself. I am also somewhat of an insomniac and am usually up between 2:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. When I have company I typically sleep very little. I love family, but many of my close family members live out of state. I love a good conversation about almost anything. I am a tolerant person who believes we are all one race - the human race. I love nice, kind, respectful and clean people. I am a bit of a clean freak and like my place to be tidy. I like to host and cook. Sitting around with a beer or a bottle of wine and a bit of music is all the atmosphere I need to have a good time - that and a friend of two helps as well. I am overall a kind, pleasant, intelligent, and nurturing person. Please read my entire profile before requesting a visit.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My nephew used to couch surf and educated me on the concept. Over the years, he has traveled and stayed with a few nice folks who made the experience worthwhile for him. He has also invited his buds to come and stay with aunty (me) while in the Chicago area, or while passing through on their way to another point . I have always welcomed them with open arms. Ilove nice, kind, respectful and clean people. I don't know if I would actually stay as a guest while on this site, but I would host under the right circumstances. I don't want to be a doormat for unworthy, disrespectful people who want to use and abuse this system. I have heard and read some stories - so I want to avoid any unpleasant situations, hence my caution about completing my profile here and actually changing my Not Accepting status to Accepting. Interests
I like one on one in person conversations. I don't watch TV. I don't have cable. I abhor football and any sport on TV. Love to see live music and attend concerts and outdoor festivals in the summer. I love summer most of all. I sort of love older model cars. I really don't travel cause I have four outdoor/indoor cats with varying dispositions regarding being in the house. I take in strays frequently. My home life is very sedate and organized, clean, and zen. I play Pandora most of the day and keep the music pretty zen too. Peace, tranquility, harmony are my way. With that said, I do have a sense of humor and laugh at myself all the time. I find intelligence attractive. Esoteric conversations about the nature of the universe, various cultures, and microloan programs are interesting too. In many ways I am an armchair traveler. I have not seen much of the world except in my mind and on the TV. Please read my entire profile before requesting a visit.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music, I hate country and rap. I love most everything else except hard core metal. Middle of the road and pleasant = easy listening with a bit of Michael Franti and the Red Hot Chili Peppers works. Books - anything John Grisham. I like court drama, intrigue, suspense and thrillers but nothing too violent or obscene. For movies: I like feel good movies as well as those that end on a good note. No horror, no wars, no gangster stuff / no drugs - nothing with a negative vibe. My world view is peaceful, tranquil, and harmonious. Please read my entire profile before requesting a visit.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Nothing... As boring as this sounds, I don't feel I have done anything amazing, except perhaps that I have lived my life as a single person, totally independent since I was 19. I try to live my life by following the rules but I do color outside the lines every chance I get. I have traveled on my own and have enjoyed long drives. I once got lost in a local state park except I was really only about 30 feet from the parking lot the whole time. I also had a very unique experience getting lost in Aruba and also how I arrived without a passport. Ask me about that one. Please read my entire profile before requesting a visit.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am open to learning a ton of stuff. I can help you to meditate. I am a queen of all things and master of none.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My person, my food, my space, a guitar and tank drum, my willingness to converse and inform visitors about my town and how to get around with or without a car.
