About Me

I am originally from the Asheville area and I just returned to reconnect with the community and my family. I have been studying at Appalachian State University since 2019 and finished my degree in Psychology, German, and Gender studies in December of 2022. Previous to beginning college I traveled and lived in Germany where I was able to immerse myself in the culture and all the sweet small-town traditions. Couchsurfing proved to be an invaluable resource while traveling Europe, and as many of us know, provided so much more than just a safe space to sleep at night. At this time I am not hosting people in my home considering I am somewhat of a road nomad myself. But I am excited to connect with other couch surfers and travelers looking for exceptional world experiences.

I love deep conversations about possibilities and human experiences and I enjoy stepping outside my comfort zone. In Europe, my mantra was "seek discomfort". This phrase was inspired by the now very popular Youtube group whose channel is titled Seek Discomfort. This mantra truly pulled me through some *Type II Fun adventures and I am forever impressed by the experiences and people that I find when I step out of the comfort bubble. Through the Pandemic, I think it's safe to say we all sought a bit more comfort to cope with the stress of the times. I for one did. Now I'm excited to seek a little more discomfort, get involved with new expeditions, and do some learning!

I am so grateful to be back in the Asheville area, exploring the mountains and city alike. I love camping, cold plunges, and being present with simple joys like baking an apple pie on a rainy day. Dancing has been a passion of mine for years and I am always in search of music that moves me. I am also excited to continue practicing my Spanish and German or any language you may feel enthusiastic to share with me!

For the past several months I have been working as a pastry chef at one of Ashevilles finest bakeries. I am, however, stepping away from the pastry fairy life and have a new gig lined up in New Mexico as a White Water rafting guide! I'm super excited for this next chapter and I hope to make many cookies and cakes as in my last chapter.

*Type II Fun - an experience that at the moment might feel pretty intense or uncomfortable but in hindsight was extremely energizing, connecting, or laughable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My family has been hosting surfers since I was young. It was always so exciting as a kid to meet all the worldly traveled people who walked through our door and sat at our dinner table. Now that I am out in the world, I am excited to do some of my own worldly travels!
I am excited about creating some events within the Asheville communities. I enjoy bringing people together to share an experience of food, art, music, or movement. Additionally, I feel called to build connections with people, share stories, and experience all the unique edges of this region.
