About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Looking for a job, trying to finish my book, doing something amazing everyday

ABOUT ME

I'm a bit of a minimalist. I don't pack a lot, I don't leave or take much with me, and have been used to sleeping on floors and such for the longest time. My favorite place to go in the world would actually be in the woods. I enjoy meeting new people and would always endeavor on the opportunity to go somewhere new and discover interesting things. I like to go to the places where people don't go to often such as abandoned buildings or old trails. That said, I'm not much of a bar/clubs kind of guy.

I study Philosophy and Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park and am also a member of the Writers' House there where I do creative writing. I enjoy talking about art, philosophy, math, and etc. but am not a snob about it so you'll never see me try to start up one of those "intellectual" conversations. I'm open to talk about it, but I understand and sympathize with those who would groan hearing one of these discussions.

I'm not picky when it comes to people, so if you ever need a helping hand, let me know and I'll see what I can do!

PHILOSOPHY

I don't try to change people's minds on any beliefs and opinions they have. I believe that most people are rational enough that they're able to make the decisions best for them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will be living on my own soon and will need to find some place to stay some time. When I get my own place, you're welcome to crash there!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first time hanging out with some couchsurfers has been nothing but positive. They're some of the most down-to-earth, hip, and worldly people I've met and will love to meet up with them more in the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was out running and got caught in a derecho. I was one mile away from home and had to run back, dodging lightning and flying branches, and falling trees. Thankfully, I've survived in one piece. Don't know if it's weird if I said that was actually kind of fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

If Pinocchio says "my nose will grow now," that statement is not a paradox and no, the universe won't implode on itself. Lying is a type of intent.

For example, I can say "Alice's birthday is on August 23rd" and actually not know when her birthday is. I was lying when I said "Alice's birthday is on August 23rd" because I intentionally gave you misleading information. However, by coincidence it was really August 23rd. I would then have lied about something that was actually the truth.

Likewise, this happens vice-versa. Suppose I told Bob that "Alice's birthday is on August 23rd" when in fact her birthday is actually on April 1st. If you asked Bob when is Alice's birthday, and he told you honestly what he knew, that "Alice's birthday is on August 23rd", then he would have not lied to you because he didn't INTEND to give you misleading information, rather tried to give you information that he believed was true, when in fact, that information was false. That is, it is not a lie if Bob intended to tell you the truth, but unknowingly gave you false information.

Therefore, if Pinocchio says "my nose will grow now", it is not a paradox, but rather a relative question on the context of that statement. If Pinocchio intended to lie, of course it will grow even though it will then make the statement true. But if he intended to tell the truth, the nose won't grow.
