Chi sono
CURRENT MISSION
Life is an experiment - go, live, experience!
ABOUT ME
I'm curious by nature, thus my work at the university as a researcher and doing photography on my free time. Other than that I like judo, two-wheelers (mostly without motors, sometimes those with motors go as well), soul (all meanings intended), debating, good whiskey, how the mind works, finding a balance between serious/frivolous, funk, rock, beer and overall trying to fill the years with life.
PHILOSOPHY
"Always go, never expect" - without expectations you will perceive the subtlety, with expectations only the border. Try and err, make mistakes, but don't make the same mistake many times. Don't concoct explanations for your possible future failures beforehand but rather throw yourself at challenges and do what your body and mind allow you to do.
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been hosted by wonderful, generous people on different continents. For instance, on my bike tour in Germany, 2010, people offered the tired cyclist food, a little beer and a warm shower, what else could one ask for?
When I host people, I try to keep these folks and their warm-hearted attitude in mind and to give back to others what I have received myself.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Regardless of what I say above, I've been hosting people more than being hosted by others - crazy and brave bike riders touring our earth for years in a row (tight tires, Lockie!), a lawyer from the Philippines, backpackers from all around, you name it. On my trip to US, I got to stay with a couple of generous and hospitable hosts as well. And my bike trip around Europe in the summer of 2010 - well, I will just always remember the amazing, friendly people I had the privilege of spending a little time with.
Interessi
Adventures (both on the road and those between the ears), trying many new things but being really good at some (for me judo, bicycles, photography one day I hope), being intoxicated (by good wine, by people, by life, as long as I am intoxicated)

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
I went into the wild in northern Finland, middle of wilderness, middle of winter, temperature -35 celsius at nights, saw the aurora borealis and the amazing whiteness everywhere and was moved to tears when I had to leave.
I go to months-long bike tours to get away from everyday life, I've studied the ideas of Chomsky and Fodor, I've learned how to do brain research, but most important of all, I hope I've learned to respect all different kinds of people.
Insegna, impara, condividi
I can teach: judo, taking care of bikes, Finnish language/culture...
I want to learn: pretty much anything you know and I don't. Right now, when writing this, I'm surfing with a cool guy who knows physics and I've been reading a book called "Not Even Wrong" about particle physics, big machines to do the empiria, about quantum mechanics and mathematics involved with modern physics and string theory. That's really interesting! But I'm open to new skills and knowledge of any kind, from understanding new cultures to learning to be better at cayaking (done that only once so far, which is a pity!)
