About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel is one of the great spices of life, I want to taste and savor all that I can.

ABOUT ME

I'm lucky that my job allows me to do a lot of travelling. Outside of that I thrive on seeking new adventures, meeting new people, sampling new & different foods, learning about other cultures and ways of life.
I'm athletic and enjoy almost all sports, especially board riding sports, ie. surfing, is at the top of the list, however snowboarding, body-boarding, body-surfing, skiing, skateboarding, wake-boarding, wind or kite surfing all run a close second.
Being from Hawai`i, I love anything to do with the ocean, beach or watersports. Fishing, SCUBA diving, snorkeling, beach volleyball, canoe racing or kayaking, BBQing, or just sitting in the shade with a cool drink smelling the sea breezes, listening to crashing waves either alone or with a bevy of good friends, it's good either way.
I'm currently working aboard cruise ships (Holland America Line), biding my time while I wait for the economy in Hawai`i to pick back up. I then plan to return home (I'm projecting possibly in 2013) and
restart up my cultural ecotour company.
At that time I'll be able to host and reciprocate the kindness that has been extended to me.

PHILOSOPHY

I treat people how I would like to be treated,
I'm an ambassodor of aloha. Aloha literally means to "share the ha." Ha is the warm breath of life that was given to us from above and basically has transended down to mean "to share a warmth for each other."
In Hawai`i it's easy to be nice to each other because everyone is nice, the trick is to extend that outside your comfort zone.
But for me, being from Hawai`i almost seems to open doors, people just seem to want to like me, so for me it's easy to be nice back.
Does that make sense?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It's hard for me to host because I usually always on the road (sea, haha).
Update, 8/24/16 - Home for a month, got a vacation rental (studio) in Waikiki with a sofa bed, might be able to host a night or two. :)
Still, I can participate by sharing my travel adventures, love of cooking and story telling with any of my gracious hosts.
I also don't mind sharing expenses for my meals and accommodations.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have couchsurfed while in Europe, liked the experience, want to reciprocate the aloha shown to me.

Interests

Spirituality, mysticism, holistic health, cultural and natural healing arts, sports especially water sports, people, women, I love meeting new people, outdoor adventure and travel (duh)...
I have started working on a novel and have another idea for a novelty book.
I also want to learn to speak another language, I'm think about starting with Spanish, in my line of work and travel it'll prove helpful.
And if I'm able to find the time...I think that I would also like to learn to play the guitar.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like fantasy books & movies and comedy.
Waiting for Stephen Erikson's last book in the Fall of the Malazan series to come out.
I like all music, especially cultural and folkloric songs from that places that I visit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Started and maintained a Hawaiian Cultural Ecotour company for 10 years.
Enjoyed riding the Hawaiian Renaissance wave, saw the rebirth of our dying culture and many of our lost art forms revived.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have wonderful stories of my culture and upbringing as well as stories from my travels, I think that I present them well in both an informative and humorous delivery. I love sharing and learning from life's lessons and experiences.
