About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to meet new people, bring more tourists, especially LGBTQ travelers, to Albuquerque and have everyone have a FRIGGIN HOT TIME!

ABOUT ME

58 year old Latino gay male married to a 36 year old male originally from Seattle, Washington. I grew up in Albuquerque but have lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Washington, DC, San Juan, Puerto Rico and and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. We are currently living in Albuquerque. I currently serve as President of the ABQ LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce, on the board of a soon-to-be-open transportation museum in Albuquerque, and on the board of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and the Global NM Chamber of Commerce. I was on the board of the Southwest Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. I was an account executive for the New Mexico Pride Guide (www.GoGayNewMexico), and I work part-time for Albuquerque Tourism and Scenic Factory as their LGBTQ Liaison to bring more LGBTQ tourists to Albuquerque. I am part of a theater troupe called The Dolls and we put on several performances a year. My partner Andy is 36, works full-time, and loves riding his bike all over. We both love gardening and taking care of our doggies, movies, theater, nightclubs, music, reading and cooking. (AND eating!!!) visited 46 states (92%) Create your own visited map of The United States or another interesting project
visited 29 states (12.8%)Create your own visited map of The World or another interesting project

PHILOSOPHY

As an AIDS attorney in the mid-1980's when everyone who was diagnosed died, I had too many mostly men my age, younger and older, sit across a desk from me and say "I wish I could have done this or that." They taught me to stop sitting around and wishing and GO OUT AND DO whatever your heart truly desires!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We live in a nice 3 bedroom home and have a guestroom with a queen-sized bed in it. We have a small Schnauzer named Schnuggler and a Maltese named Curiosa (curious in Spanish) who are very friendly! I am very willing to show you around my hometown of Albuquerque, give advice on what to do, where to go and where to eat, etc. Both of us love meeting new people. And we do travel so like to meet others through surfing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have so far hosted many surfers, 3 of them within a week, and 2 of them at the same time - and they were not traveling together. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of our surfers and would host them again. We are ready to GO surfing too. ;-) I have surfed several times and Andy and I have surfed together once so far.

Interests

Photography, classic cars, volunteering, reading, music, cooking, gardening, bike riding, leather. I am currently writing a biography of a gay male artist named Delmas Howe, who lives in Truth or Consequences, NM. Please google him - he has beautiful homo-erotic artwork.

Music, Movies, and Books

SciFi is mainly what I read, but also historical things as well as politics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having sex at 3 am in the Coliseum in Rome. Watching the hot air balloons (850+) all take off into the brilliant turquoise New Mexico sky. Having dinner with a great friend and two new friends along with steaks, 6 bottles of wine and all the fixings for $24 in Buenos Aires! I could go on and on - I'm a very lucky person to have had as rich a life as I have.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy meeting nearly all kinds of people (except homophobes who use religion as an excuse to hate!). I have had many good and bad life experiences I am willing to share, and I always try to keep an open mind to learn from others I meet.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Great conversation, some New Mexico wine, beer or green or red chile, and showing off our city in general. Very knowledgeable about ABQ history, and am now working as the LGBTQ Liaison for the Albuquerque Tourism and Sightseeing Factory (AT&SF). So if you have questions, please feel free to ask!
