About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To understand the world through Sister Cities!

ABOUT ME

I'm interested in learning about how cities and towns- relatively small communities- deal with the opportunities and challenges of our interconnected world.

To explore this interest, I'll be visiting four of Tacoma, Washington's Sister Cities for the next three and a half months.

I'll be traveling alone for most of the time. I've never traveled alone so I'm a little scared, but that's where you couchsurfers can help! I hope to make new friends along the way, to prove that in this crazy, complicated world we can still connect on a person-to-person level.

I'll be traveling to: Gunsan, South Korea; Taichung, Taiwan; Kitakyushu, Japan; and Fuzhou, China.

I'm 21 years old.
I'm originally from Santa Barbara, California but also calling Tacoma, Washington home.
I'm in my senior year at the University of Puget Sound, where I study International Political Economy.

PHILOSOPHY

I love using Google Earth to pinpoint precisely where myself and my friends have traveled to around the world. I am grateful that my generation has so much freedom to explore our planet, but I understand that with energy crises it might not always be this easy. I hope that by seizing the opportunity to go abroad in this era of free travel, I can build close relationships with people from different backgrounds, so that in the future as leaders and consumers, we will all make wise, worldly decisions with our international friends in mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm brand new to CS2, so the best I have to offer is a promise of enthusiasm, goodwill towards all hosts and guests, and belief in the project.

My travels so far have taught me that most people are caring, generous, and thoughtful. I think that using CS2 during my next trip will confirm this!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being fifteen years old and completely lost in the center of Calcutta. Watching my friends splash in the Taiwan Strait. Waking up to my first blue sky in weeks on an overnight train leaving Beijing. Riding over 1,000 miles around the United States on a bicycle with my junior high school.

Teach, Learn, Share

This world and its people are extremely complex. Always put yourself in the shoes of the other, and be wary of simple or orthodox solutions.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, India, Italy, Nepal, Netherlands, Norway, Russian Federation, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
