Overview
About Me
I love the mellow fruitfulness
that comes with growing older.
I love that life has moulded me
less gullible and much bolder.
I love that travel's made me
more open and more wise.
I love that I can see things
through other people's eyes.
I'm a lover not a fighter. I'm a lover of earthy people. I love getting lost when travelling and then finding my own way back. I'm usually available to host in Smiths Lake, about 20 minutes from Forster. I've met the best people and had the best experiences this way. If you're lost or simply want to share a little company, I have room from time to time and love to share my life too. Come and add some more colours to the rainbow of my world.
Be sure to check out my poem if requesting. Now, I'm a very broad-minded Aussie guy who loves nature, cooking and meeting all sorts of like-minded naturists. Quite a number of years ago, I lived in Paris doing everything from interior decorating and painting to apartment check-ins and even teaching English. Although I'd been sharing and swapping couches for many years, Paris is where I first heard about the actual group called Couchsurfing; well over a decade ago, so I continued hosting through this group in my little studio in the city centre of Paris. Now, I'm back and forth between Europe and Asia. I'm presently based in Oz, living in the stunning Pacific Palms area on the mid-coast of New South Wales.
I was brought up in a pretty holy yet progressive household. Innately, I could totally relate to the spiritual side but the religious bent and ritual held no purpose for me. However, as a result, I fully respect the imagined need that religion holds for some people. I accept and do not judge. The following of Buddhism makes the most sense to me as it does not judge, it helps us accept life and comforts us. My belief is LOVE.
MY EVOLVING MISSION
Sharing and caring.
Never a day goes by without me learning something about myself and finding some nuance or something intriguing. I'm loving every moment of my journey.
I've been to lots of different countries and am continually fascinated by the diversity of life and living. I like writing poetry and singing in the shower and around the place and especially dancing naked in the rain. I tend to burst into song like in the movies but I don't realise I do it. People say I'm a little eccentric but I can't see it.
PHILOSOPHY
To realise your dreams you have got to wake up!
1. Be the voice, not the echo.
2. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
3. Good karma comes back tenfold.
4. To do more than my best this time around.
5. When there is no truth, end the lie.
6. LOVE is not being afraid to be yourself.
7. I'm not looking for the light, it's already within.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been hosting and surfing for over twenty years and I always enjoy hosting other friendly self-respecting travellers and also meeting other couchsurfers around India, Asia, Europe, Scandinavia, Africa, the Americas and Australasia.
Bring it on! If you would like to stay at chez moi, please use my name when you are requesting a couch and also quote the parts you like in my poem about my interests.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've shared lots of beds and couches and mattresses and floors and tents and balconies in my time and they've all provided for such fabulous experiences.
I also love hosting interesting people, especially people who do not have an issue with nudity and whose goal it is to share their life experiences. Whether that be in my cosy tent in the wilderness or my lovely cottage in Smiths lake
In the true spirit of couchsurfing, I don't believe in labelling people racist, ethnic, religious, nerd, gay, hetero, macho etc. Each to their own! I am constantly bettering myself by the people I meet and every experience enriches my life and helps me through my passage on earth.
Earth is important to me. I love touching it, feeling it, getting dirty in it and digging in it.
What goes around comes around. This is karma. Good karma has always come back to me tenfold. I don't expect the payback, it just happens.
Interests
My Favourite Things.
Fires and camping and lying in bed,
Cooking for people who need to be fed.
Art and nature and coffee and tea,
Both Red and White vino do it for me.
My hands in the earth, absorbing the ground
Livens my spirit, re-balance is found.
The digging, the poking, the touching, the feeling
I'm sucked back to nature, my senses reeling.
Naturalists, naturists and people who sing
There's always a place for the freedom they bring.
"Just Enough" is enough for me
to share what I have, brings me such glee.
Travellers impress and also inspire
Listening and laughing sets me on fire.
Buddhism, yoga, ohmming and ahhhing,
Chanting and chatting and playfully sparring.
Theatre and ballet and opera and scrabble,
I throw myself into whatever I dabble.
House cleaning naked and letting it hang,
Helps me balance my ying and my yang.
Laughing and cooking and playing with words,
Writing and whistling and looking at birds.
Shedding my clothes as I come through the door
Dropping the shackles to lay on the floor.
Carpentry, eating and colourful hats,
Jazz music, piercings and meaningful tatts.
With surfers, I always get along fine,
Especially caressing a glass of good wine.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading books from colourful story tellers; True stories, mysteries, fantasy and fiction. I enjoy more relaxing laid-back background music such as Jazz and crooning and blues. Not really into noise and mayhem, however, they do have their place in my life.
I tend to sit it the director's chair when watching films. I get off on the artistry and eccentricity of the visionaries who dream the scenes up. Movies I like really need to have a creative element with good editing.
They don't always need to have a point though. They can be romantic, cheesy or simply feel-good films or can be whacky, daft or intense, musical or scary or historical as long as they are well made from a colour and gel perspective. I'm not into violence or speed, space or aliens.
I prefer to leave the cinema dancing and singing, than leaving morbid about life and the future and especially having to think too much. I'm not an intellectual, although people continuously tell me I am.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Where do I start?
I ran my own landscaping business for many years. I worked in Iceland for 9 months, which was very cold, I lived a while in Morocco and even got thrown in jail by mistake. I've had passports and money and cheques and phones stolen at different times. I also survived a fatal train accident in Egypt.
However, there's been lots and lots of good things too. I've virtually re-built my own tri-level timber house and planted lots and lots and lots of trees and shrubs. In fact, I've lived a blessed life and hope to continue to do so.
I've never won the lottery; buying a ticket might help though.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know lots and lots of big words but I don't like using them or showing off, unless it's necessary. I save that for my writing. There's always a simpler way to express yourself that everyone understands and feels more comfortable with.
The key to communication is listening. Learning is listening and so I do like to listen and to share thoughts. I believe, wherever I am at the time, I'm learning from them, learning more about me and perhaps even consoling and teaching, not simply them but also myself. I like keeping it real and earthy.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Oh...that's a big one but I believe I've said it all in the rest of my profile.
Things I love: People and their idiosyncrasies. There's a place for everyone in my world.
Things I hate: Man's inhumanity to man.
