About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Promoting sustainability and creativity through design, education, and all types of activity.

ABOUT ME

By day, I am an independent designer supporting local agriculture, design, and sustainability; while at night, I eat, drink, and play drums for a local heavy metal band. Otherwise, I appreciate a wide range of arts, culture, and activity with a focus on things that aren't commonly found on your average TV screen.

PHILOSOPHY

Energy flows between extremes, seems to answer most questions for me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate via travel, hosting others, and going to local events with other CS'rs.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted more than I've surfed, but since I can't travel all the time at least I can enjoy it when other surfers do.

Interests

Art, science, music, technology, urban-agriculture, sustainability, community, design, plants, backpacking, things outdoors, photography, spontaneous activity and creativity.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is a must. I like everything from bluegrass and blues, to dubstep and drum & bass. I grew up on Primus and heavier rock/punk, then got into electronic and bluegrass simultaneously, now I'm into lots of indie and more cultural world sounds. Can't get enough good music. Commercial stuff drives me nuts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled with locals in hollowed out canoes deep in the Amazon just after the wet season and caught peacock bass that we later cooked over an open fire at our camp of hammocks in the jungle.

Teach, Learn, Share

Buying produce from local growers and farmers markets directly improves your local community in a vast number of ways. The food is fresher and healthier, the jobs are local, the money is not spent on excessive/pollution-heavy transportation or in unregulated foreign markets, and most of the benefits stay directly within the community. This can be broken down much further, but it is a point that I feel more people should embrace and actively try to support, especially in their respective communities.
