About Me

Hello everyone,

My name is Daijiro. I'm a 34-year old Japanese Islander, born in Taiwan from a Japanese father and a Hawaiian mother. I moved to Michigan when I was 3 and spent a good part of my life in the Motor City, although I have done a lot of traveling throughout the U.S.A, Spain, as well as Japan. I deeply love culture, music, dance, meeting new people and discovering new places. I can't wait to embark on this new Couchsurfing experience as a surfer and eventually a host in the years to come!

A few things about me. I am a dancer, who specializes in street and latin dance forms: breaking, locking, popping, house, hip hop, salsa, meringue, bachata, cumbia, ballroom hustles. I am also passionate about cooking and feeding people. My recipes are deeply influenced by Asian cuisines (Japanese, Thai, Korean, Chinese) whom I fuse together with traditional American, European, as well as Latin foods.

My partner Cat and I have just started our long-planned road trip out West together. Check out her Couchsurfing profile here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/2002222712. The plan is to hit up Utah on our way back to the Bay area. After that, our goal is to go to Oregon, Washington all the way down to Southern Cali. We will be making our way back to Michigan through the South West and the South after. We plan on being back in Detroit by mid August and to start hosting Couchsurfers soon after that.

My ultimate goals in life are to travel the world and eventually have my own studio and food truck to feed communities and teach kids the deep history behind street dance. Causes of environmental sustainability are also very close to my heart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I want to meet like-minded people from all walks of life and build real connections with them. I first heard of the Couchsurfing community through my partner Cat, who just came back from a 4 month adventure down South and through the Southwest of the United States. She has had nothing but positive experiences and I can't wait to join in on her adventures.

I really believe in expanding my horizons by meeting new people to share stories and experiences with, whether it be by being hosted by them or by hosting them. I am a very caring, giving, and respectful person. I love taking care of others and giving them a good time. It is something I find truly fulfilling and rewarding to me as a person.

Hosting is definitely a passion of Cat and I's even though at the moment we won't be able to do so because of our traveling.

We are total music and culture heads and are really looking forward to being hosted by the beautiful CS community and to host them in return when we get back home to Detroit :)
