About Me

Hey there ⭐ on behalf of myself and William. We did some surfing in Europe and now we want to give back to this strange n lovely community by doing some hosting.

If I think you and I will get along and therefore I can really host you - that is, offer you more than just a crashpad - then I will. That's really the whole formula.

Like any host, I appreciate some sort of recognition that you read the couch details, so I know we're on the same page!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's a beautiful thing to share and to be shared with. I think the happiest (and holiest) societies are the ones that resist economizing time and resources, and instead know how to share with one another. We are our best selves when we live in/with/through/among each other.

The experiences I tend to treasure most when traveling are conversations. I love to talk and to listen.

Interests

I think unlimited access to the internet has been the downfall of mankind. Sounds dramatic, but this one sentiment accounts for much of my waking thought. Loneliness is the most dangerous epidemic the world faces. How can we reclaim our social bonds? Our creativity, curiosity? Even our boredom? 🎡

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore finding new music, please share yours with me! I listen to a lot of indie-folk myself; a favorite band of mine is Big Thief. I do not watch much TV, but when I do it's to unwind with a goofy comedy. When it comes to books, I prefer classic literature and biographies.

Right now I'm reading the urbanist bible: Jane Jacob's The Death and Life of American Cities.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Uh, survived a fire that burned down our apartment complex as a girl.

A couple of times I improvised tattoos abroad, which isn't amazing but it may illustrate my character. (I don't have many overall, even though my parents have many and encourage it.) For example, one is a sketch I gave to the friend of someone staffing the hostel I was staying at in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. He had just closed his tattoo shop for the day but he unlocked it and copied the sketch in 10min. In Kyoto, I met someone who did tattoos out of his apartment living room with a folding curtain to separate his private and personal lives. He copied my sketch onto his iPad and held himself to a surprisingly high standard of professionalism. I couldn't make him laugh with any of my jokes. Probably because I couldn't speak Japanese.

The richest cultural exchange experience of my life has been being pseudo-adopted into a Kachin family from Myanmar and living with them for years. I continue to regard them as my family. 🇲🇲👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

And, as you can see, I rode a dragon.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have no training but if you're brave I can give you a haircut.💈

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Slovenia, Switzerland
