HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a listener, and a watcher. I fill needs when i hear them/see them, but otherwise i let the universe run itself. I find it normally does a pretty good job without my interference.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed for a week in Minnesota during a winter birdwatching trip with a friend.

My field is comparative civilizations; my knowledge of history is broad, but not deep. One can easily be amazed at the similarities in human existence across thousands of years, different continents and vastly different cultural assumptions. And just so are we connected to all the other species on this planet, to the mountains and the oceans, to the planets and the stars and the galaxies. We are entranced at first by exotic differences, yet upon deeper examination we find that what we share, even with aliens, is just as profound as what separates us. We are all on a grand adventure, and none of us know exactly where we'll end up. There is an echo of everything beautiful inside of us, if we only care to look.
