About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Surviving this month without any money left. again.

ABOUT ME

globetrotter, activist, part-time musician, pighead, flower child, wise guy, striking head, slob, vegetarian, pacifist, half-time philosopher, dialogue thinker,...

creative, loving, living, a bit egocentric, confident, sarcastic, sometimes even rude, yet mostly gentle

Open minded and all that other stuff everybody would write down because it's commonly seen as a character trait which people want to see in a host/guest.

PHILOSOPHY

Let me quote some geniuses:
___

DON'T PANIC!
___

If someone thinks that peace and love is just a cliche that must have been left behind in the sixties, that's a problem. Peace and love are eternal.
(John Lennon)

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, in High Fidelity it says something like "It's what you like, not what you're like, that counts".

So, at the risk of being horribly incomplete, here's a list of what I like...
___

Music:

THE BEATLES

Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Ramones, The Doors, Janis Joplin. Nearly everything from the 60s and 70s, really.
Ton Steine Scherben.
Wallis Bird, Felix Meyer,...
Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, ...
Ohrbooten, Tryo, LaBrassBanda, Die Luftmentschn, Talco, Ska-P, Irie Révoltés, Bonaparte, Mutabor,...
___

Authors: William Shakespeare, Bertolt Brecht, Hermann Hesse, Roald Dahl, Douglas Adams, Eoin Colfer, Zoran Drvenkar, Tilman Rammstedt, Astrid Lindgren, Michael Ende, Judith Hermann,...

Books:
* "Momo" by Michael Ende would be an all time favourite
* I adore short stories and narrations in every form possible
* I do love "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" as a book (I think everybody does), but have you heard the original radio series? Hilarious!
* When I like a book, I often hesitate to read more stories by the same author because I'm afraid to discover that s_he isn't that great at all.
* Lately I've been reading a lot of classics, because I had a feeling that I needed to catch up on this part of literature
___

Movies:

All time favourites:
- Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei (The Educators)
- HAIR
- Some like it hot
- Life of Brian
- Star Wars IV-VI
- A Fish Called Wanda

Classics:
High Society, The Graduate, Arsenic and Old Lace, To Catch a Thief, Harold and Maude,...
Laurel & Hardy, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, ...

Smaller productions:
Sa som i himmelen, Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Sonnenallee, Das Leben der Anderen, Sophie Scholl - Die letzten Tage, Was nützt die Liebe in Gedanken, Good Bye Lenin, Herr Lehmann, High Fidelity (yes, I've read the books as well),...

Actually I also like well done high school movies such as:
Clueless, 10 things I hate about you, The Breakfast Club,... only the good ones though.

I do like mindfucking films/series such as Twin Peaks (or nearly everything by David Lynch, as for that matter), but you're gonna have to catch me in a good mood because they scare the hell out of me.

I like to watch good musicals, such as "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (obviously), "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", "HAIR" (as mentioned before),...

I also love all those awesome music films like "It Might Get Loud", "The Song Remains the Same", "Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii" and stuff like that. (I mean seriously, is there anything better than having a beer and some cigaretts in front of a big screen and an awesome sound system while beautiful David Gilmour is playing his guitar in front of the Vesuv?)

Series:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (No, seriously: Best. Fucking. Show. Ever.), Firefly (I kind of sort of love Joss Whedon, as you can tell), Friends, Scrubs,...

And last but not least the one and only MONTY PYTHONs, of course.

Actually, I will watch nearly everything, as long as it's good and done thoughtfully.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Depends... you think "spending a day outdoors" is amazing, then I have done plenty of amazing things yet. If you ask for things like "climbing the Mount Everest" I have nothing to offer.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not an expert at anything I'm afraid.

There are a lot of things I can do quite well, though. That includes teaching the German language, sewing, playing the guitar, singing, repairing things, cooking, gardening, hiking, organising things and solving student's problems at university.

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany
