About Me

I'm a sociologist and photographer. I like observing and analysing things. I like cities, their urban form and urban life and I want to explore them, and this is the reason why I decided to start couchsurfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So I'm starting to couchsurf cause I want to visit places and see things only known by locals. I know that cities are mysterious places. You have to get to know them by heart, learn them by moving, living, socializing in them. I don't know yet what's out there waiting me in this type of travel, but I hope for bigger or smaller adventure, for interesting people and their stories.

Interests

Cities - their architecture, people, streets, everyday life, casual festivals and hidden places. I'm in love with architecture, architectural sociology, ceramics, David Bowie, superheroes movies and yoga. My favourite places in all the cities are parks, train stations and libraries. I guess I'm a bit of escapist and dreamer type.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Everything Bowie! but in terms of music I like to dig into music history (from 50s to 90s with emphasis on 60s and 70s). So yep, I'm a bit of a retrophile. In terms of contemporary music I like indierock (yes, all those groups that maybe sound pretty same) and electronic music. Also, I like piano very much, my favourite piece of music (when it's not David Bowie) is Mad Rush by Philip Glass.

Books... Oh well, it's a very hard question. My life and work is about reading books, that's mostly what I do. Let's say I like French social scientists (Michel de Certeau, Henri Lefebvre, Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu), and I like fiction that is philosophical, but also creates magical or mysterious worlds, such as the ones by Hesse, Gabriel García Márquez, James Joyce or Thoman Mann.

films. well I have two favourite types of films: serious and silly. I like when films enrich me, either in visual, philosophical or at least educational manner. But I do treat cinema as an object of analysis, so I like to watch really old films, or to watch all films by one director in a row, so I could follow up the changes in social contexts, cinematic language, social roles etc. But I also like silly wonderful films, such as superhero movies and Harry Potter, and anime by Miyazaki (ok, this one is between serious and silly) or all kind of phantazy, and some of science fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

went to the mountains with snow 10 meters deep, dug a cave and slept in it. It was a wonderful experience, but not gonna lye to you, it was cold.
