Overview
About Me
We are a couple from Korea. Both 30 years old, respectful and friendly. We love going on picnics, taking walks and going on adventures. On the other hand, we also love staying home and playing sloth.
We plan to move to Canada and have recently quit our jobs as process engineers in Oil and Gas industry in Korea. We are taking this opportunity to go on a 8-month backpacking trip in Africa-East Europe-Eurasia-South East Asia as our belated honeymoon before we move to Canada.
Last time I uploaded my profile was when I was 24 years old! At the time Sunyoung and I were backpacking in Europe for 2 months and we met some wonderful hosts who we still keep in touch with. Actually we have become very good friends with our Paris hosts (Aleka and Jim) who have since come to korea for work! Now we are 30 and married, going on our long honeymoon. We would love to make friends along the way.
About Jiwon
I'm curious, easily amused and easily pleased. I love being surrounded by unfamiliar climates, languages and people. Music, sunshine, good food and company make me happy.
Being able to watch French and Japanese films without subtitles and still laugh at the right moments is my goal for.. this decade. (As of today June 2018, I only have 4 years left...)
I was born and raised in Korea until I was 15. I went on an exchange student program to Vermont in gr.9 and i've been living at many homes away from home ever since.
About Sunyoung
I am an easy going person who likes to learn from people who have different backgrounds and experiences. I grew up in Korea until I was 15. During my high school years, I've been moving around a lot. I did my grade 9 in the USA, grade 10 in Quebec, Canada and finally finished my high school in Ontario.(I moved around a lot not because I was a trouble maker but it just happened to be!)
I am interested in all kinds of sports especially soccer, swimming and jogging. I like watching movies, reading books, listening to music as well.
I've been looking forward to this backpacking trip with my wife, Jiwon. I wish this trip will enrich both of our souls :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In 2010, I did an internship at Hokkaido University as a research assistant. I fell in love with the city, got addicted to Soup-curry, exclusively drank Sapporo-Limited Edition only available in Hokkaido, learned to bike in the harshest weather while holding the transparent umbrella with my left hand. During my stay, I discovered the wonderful world of CouchSurfing.
My CS experience has been incredible so far and I'm sure it will continue to be!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw a herd of dolphins swimming and catching small fish under the flare light while listening to a guy singing and playing the guitar when I stayed in a Malaysian offshore platform in the middle of the ocean. It was wierdly romantic.
