About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work hard, play hard and see the world.

ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Dallas and I'm a born and raised New Yorker (no, I'm not from Texas!). I am 30 years old and have an immense passion for traveling. In 2009, I studied abroad in Granada, Spain and fell in love with Europe. I traveled around to quite a few places while abroad and couch surfed for the first time in Amsterdam. I can't begin to explain how good of an experience it was, so I couch surfed again in Cork and Dublin and was became truly hooked. After 4 years in Miami for uni, I moved to Sydney, Australia to work and play for a year. This was another amazing experience where I made life long friends, fell in love with the Aussie culture and got to hop over to New Zealand and Bali. After returning back home, I realized the travel bug wouldn't be going away any time soon so I worked until I had enough funds to travel around Europe for the next two summers. I took a job in 2013 as the Business Manager of a Career Advisory firm and tech startup which put traveling on the back burner for a few years, but I still managed to take quick trips over to South Africa, Mexico and around the states. At the end of 2016, I decided it was time to hit the road again, so I quit my job and went to Australia, SE Asia, Hawaii and California for 4 months - this time alone. It was truly the most rewarding and incredible experience and I think it's safe to say, the travel bug is for life! I love love love meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, trying to local food, and generally getting out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to meet you!

PHILOSOPHY

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narror-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." -Mark Twain

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why wouldn't I be on Couchsurfing?! I'm a firm believer that the past way to travel is to immerse oneself in the local culture - meet the locals, find the hidden gems for food/drink/music, get off the beaten path and get out your comfort zone. Couchsurfing allows all of this to happen, and even better, you get to make new friends.

Interests

Traveling, meeting new people from all over the world, listening to music and going to live shows and festivals, spending an entire day at the beach, being out on the water, hiking and rock climbing, trying all different types of food and drinks, the list could go on and on...
